A Message From Grade 6

A Message from Grade 6
The 6th grade team of teachers, TA’s, and counselors hope you and your family are well. These are unprecedented times and we hope that you are doing your very best to follow the guidelines of the CDC (washing/sanitizing hands often, social distancing, etc.) If we all do our part, we will get through this sooner rather than later. We hope to see you back in our classrooms as soon as possible!
We have put together a number of learning ideas/activities/resources for you during this time, but we want to be clear that none of it is mandatory (see below). All of these ideas/activities/resources are supplemental and non-graded. We hope that you will pick and choose what interests you and that it will help to create some structure for you and your family in the days ahead. Below you will see links to these resources for each subject area. Materials are also being put together if you are interested in hard-copy activities. They will be available for pickup at the CPS front office on Wednesday, March 18th, between 2-3 pm.
Trimester 2 has been pushed back for now. Please don’t worry about the end of the trimester and your grades. Specific information about deadlines and mailing dates will be forthcoming as they are determined.
The special education department would like you to know we are thinking of each and every one of our students. Please do not hesitate to reach out to any of us via email if you need anything. We have decided to postpone all IEP meetings. As a department, we value our time with our families and feel that much is lost with virtual meetings. If you feel that a meeting is necessary before we are able to schedule an in person meeting, please reach out to your liaison. Please expect your small group instruction teacher or liaison to reach out with some specific learning opportunities for you and keep an eye on the mail for specialized materials.
While we are offering resources and suggestions for structure and practice, please consider taking this time to play games, read, relax, and reconnect as a family. In the words of Angela Watson, a teacher from New York (Cornerstone for Teachers), “We need REST. When we are stressed out, anxious, and sleep-deprived, our immune system weakens. We are less able to fight off infection.”
Be well and if you have any questions please know we are all available via email.
Mathematics Information
Hello Mathemagicians!
This is Ms. Beal and Mrs. Avery with some words about math, because we know that you will be missing math classes very much as we stay away from one another. The good news is, math never goes away! The better news is, this is an opportunity to have fun with this topic. We have provided some fun, stress free things to do.
Below is a link to a menu of options for YOU. This will also be posted on your google classrooms and updated if we get any more AWESOME ideas. Please let Ms. Beal or Mrs. Avery know if you have any questions, comments, and/or concerns.
