Have You Filled a Bucket Today?
Carlisle Elementary kids have! As part of our ongoing focus on character education we are holding a school-wide Kindness initiative based on the books, Have You Filled a Bucket Today? A Guide to Daily Happiness for Kids, by Carol McCloud and How Full is Your Bucket, by Tom Rath.
Through these books students learned that everyone in the world has an invisible bucket that holds all their good thoughts and feelings. When you do something kind for someone you fill their bucket - and yours gets filled up too. When you do something hurtful or unkind you "dip" into someone else's bucket - but you can't take those good feelings for yourself. We learned that filling buckets is easy, doesn't take much time, doesn't cost and money and feels good - also that kindness is contagious!
