Mrs. A's weekly Newsletter
Language Arts
This week we are going to read together as a whole classroom the story of "The Rainbow Fish" by Marcus Pfister . We are going to begin by having a classroom discussion of what the students think the book is going to be about. Once we read the story we are going to talk about what was the lesson that the rainbow fish learned. At the beginning of the week, I will be sending home a picture outline of the rainbow fish. This will be a great opportunity for you (the parents) to help your child become creative and decorate the rainbow fish. Be creative and use your imagination! This will be due by the end of the week, and it will be set as a display outside of the classroom. I have posted the digital video of the story. Your child will be happy to see it. Enjoy!
Math
This week in math we are going to identify objects by different size. I will begin the activity by using real objects( pencil, eraser, strawberry, and pear) and compare the size difference of the objects in a classroom discussion. Next, the students are going to do an activity where they will have four pictures of four dogs and they have to set them from tallest to shortest. Finally, each student will be getting a small Ziploc bag with four pieces of straws already cut and placing them from tallest to shortest on their desk. Since we are close to the holidays during the next couple of weeks, I will be sending an activity for the students to do and were you (the parents) can get involved. It will be about creating a Christmas tree by cutting construction paper into different strip sizes by doing so, making a beautiful Christmas tree.

Field Trip to Old Mcdonald's Farm
Dear Parent,
This is just a reminder about our field trip to "Old McDonald's Farm" in three weeks. Please don't forget to sign your child's permission slip and remind your child to turn it in during class. I have also sent another form with it, if you want to volunteer in our adventure. All parents are more than welcome to join. If you are interested complete the form and send it with your child's permission slip. I am looking forward to a great experience. Hope to see you all very soon! :)
Sincerely,
Ms. A
