Dear RedHawk Parents:

WMS student Nathan Muscarello is working with the Service Learning class to raise money for the Make A Wish foundation! Make A Wish is a non profit organization in which kids with serious illnesses dreams come true. To donate visit Gofundme.org and search for the Wredling Make a Wish Fundraiser page. You can help raise awareness by donating! A donation goal of $1000 has been set and your help is needed to achieve this goal.

Book Drive at WMS

Have any old books you're willing to donate? Starting May 12th, Lucy Philip is holding a book drive here at Wredling for Bookwallah, an organization that donates books to orphanages across the globe. She is doing this as part of her Service Learning class. Donation bins will be found in the pods and lobbies. Please donate lightly used English language books by May 20th. Let's help inspire and educate children around the world! A drop bin can be found in the front hallway.

Cooking Camp at WMS

If you love to cook or would like to sharpen your cooking skills, Mrs. Watts, Wredling Middle School FACS teacher, will be offering an Introduction to Culinary Camp to middle school students June 7 thru the 10 and an Advance Camp June 14-17 at Wredling Middle School. Stay tuned for more information about the camp and registration information.

FIVE Reminders for After School Pick Up

Just a reminder to parents...

  1. You need to pick up kids at the Norris Center parking lot after school, not off the Dunham Road driveway, Kirk Rd, or Fox Chase Blvd roadways.

  2. Go slowly and be aware of all students and cars in the lots, crossing the roadways.

  3. You need to pull into a parking space in the Norris lot.

  4. Please follow all posted signs and arrows. This includes Fox Chase Rd being closed from Kirk Rd to East HS daily for our bus traffic.

  5. Parents may NOT pick-up students from our back parking lot without permission from Mr. Loversky (ex. due to injury). They will receive a pass for this purpose. We have too many smaller buses trying to pick up students from this area.

Thank you,

Medication Pickup Reminder

Please do not forget to pick up all medications by the last day of school! Those medicines not picked up by an adult by May 28th, will need to be disposed of. The only medications that can be given to a student to transport home are those that are allowed to be self carried (Epi Pens, Pancreatic Enzymes or inhalers). If there is a self carry form on file for one of those medications, please remind your student to stop in and pick up medication before leaving on the last day. All medication orders must be renewed each school year. Forms are available on the district web site under “Parents”, then “forms” or by contacting the health office.

Appointments for the required 6th grade and 9th grade physicals tend to fill up quickly and should be scheduled now! Please submit the completed physicals to the respective schools as they are done. They are required to be submitted for review prior to the first day.

The health office is closed during the summer months. We will return for limited hours beginning in early August. Please contact me if there are new medical concerns for your child or if your child will need a health plan at school.

Have a safe and healthy summer!

School Physicals for the 2021-2022 School Year

The Illinois school code requires that students entering an Illinois school for the first time, and all sixth and ninth grades, must submit evidence of a physical examination and a complete record of immunizations prior to starting classes or receiving services. Physical Exams and Vaccine Records are required for students enrolled in face-to-face learning as well as remote learning prior to August 11, 2021 (the first day of school for the 21/22 year). Make your appointments today as these appointments fill up quickly! Please contact your school nurse prior to May 28, 2021 if you need a copy of your child's immunizations.

Wearing Masks at WMS

As we have seen a community increase in Covid transmission, I want to remind our students and parents about the importance of wearing masks at WMS. It is our district's expectation that students follow the guideline of wearing a mask at school unless they are eating or drinking. Most of our students do exceptionally well, but we have a small group who are pushing this issue. We will remind them three times. The next time they will have a few office detentions. After that, we will move to Building Supervised Study (in-building suspension) and Out of School Suspension. Data has clearly shown us that wearing masks reduces the transmission of Covid, and that must be a primary goal for us.

Attention 8th Grade Parents:

If your child was assigned to our Remote Academy at any time this year, we would like your RedHawk 8th grade to be in our End-of-the-Year video! If you would like that too, please send a photo of your 8th grader, preferably at their work station (if that makes sense) to meghan.cannon@d303.org.

Please include your child's name in the subject of the email. (ex: Fred Jones 8th Grade Photo)
