Congratulations to our Teacher of the Year-Mr. Young!

    Big picture
Mr. Young is described by parents as someone who always has assignments ready for his students, helpful, and answers immediately anytime they have questions. One parent said he helped their struggling student and brought out the brightness in their child. He creates a welcoming and comfortable environment for students. Co workers described Mr. Young as being instrumental in being assertive and sharing their passion for education, student/family advocacy, establishing rapport and demanding respect from all. He is active in several campus initiatives, and always respectfully consistent. His realism is much appreciated, and the informal mental checks are monumental. He is assertive, passionate, comedic, and our Teacher of the Year!

Congratulations to Coach Mata-January Teacher of the Month

    Big picture

Respect is the willingness and ability to act professionally and thoughtfully with ourselves and others. Leaders can deal respectfully with opposition and provide space for both dignity and differences to coexist.

Coach Mata knows how to build a positive culture amongst their students and team by always staying positive and respectful no matter what situation arises. He understands that words have power, and he chooses his words carefully and makes sure to never say anything unkind. Coach Mata understands the value of listening, compromise, and treating everyone he encounters with dignity. He is considerate and honors the feelings and opinions of others. Please and thank you are always spoken, and his actions are always genuine and warm.

    Congratulations, Coach!

Theme for February-Kindness ("Spark the Heart")

    What is Kindness?

Kindness is the ability and willingness to express care and compassion for others. Kindness is a choice to use our time, talent, and resources to better the lives of others and the world through genuine acts of love, compassion, generosity, and service.

    Why focus on Kindness?

    • Kindness boosts positive emotions. Acts of kindness create neural pathways that enhance feelings of well-being and the natural flow of feel-good endorphins and neurotransmitters.
    • Kindness is self-replicating. When we perform an act of kindness, it is likely to encourage others to act in a similar way.
    • Kindness reduces stress and anxiety. Kindness promotes positive relationships with other people. Anything that helps you to build bonds with other people helps decrease anxiety.

    Kindness in Action:

    • Celebrate small things. Start each day with Good Things as a class. Publicly and privately affirm kind and thoughtful actions and attitudes.
    • Create opportunities for students to regularly affirm each other. Once a week, dedicate time for students to write notes of affirmation to classmates and school staff members.
    • Model Kindness. Be mindful of body language, tone, and mindset. Kindness is learned by example!
