Principal's Note
What a great first semester! We have done our best with a lot going on and YOU have been the biggest help to see all of our students succeed.
Last week we had our first ever AMI day (Alternative Method of Instruction). It is so exciting that the district has to opportunity to offer these days so students can continue their learning seamlessly. Thank you to everyone who had their students logged in and ready to go! We start school at 9:00am on these days, so be sure to have your student logged into Canvas and have them following the teachers zoom/work schedules for the day.
It turned out to be a great day! Perfect way to keep everyone safe and off of snowy roads, without having to push that learning far into June.
Keep your eye out for the next one! It's winter in Missouri - snow is sure to fall!

AMI (Alternative Method of Instruction) Reminder infromation
This school year our inclement weather days will be different for staff and students. In the past, during inclement weather school would be canceled for teachers and students. Now that the state of Missouri has allowed districts to have distance learning from home, we have the opportunity to use our inclement weather days as Alternate Method of Instruction days or AMI distance learning days. (Though a traditional snow day can be called if needed - say for a wide spread power outage or some other reason. When an inclement weather day is announced, it will also be announced weather it is an AMI day or a no school day)
Students will log into canvas by 9:00am and follow their teachers AMI schedule. Students must attend zooms and complete assignments to be counted present for the day.
A sample schedule might look something like the one below.
9:00-9:30 - Whole-group reading
9:30-11:00 - Work time for students / small group or individual time with teacher as assigned
11:00-11:30 - Specials
11:30-12:30 - Lunch/Recess Break
12:30-1:00 - Brain Break
1:00-1:30 - Whole-group math
1:30-3:00 - Work time for students / small group or individual time with teacher as assigned
3:00-3:30 - Brain Break
3:30-4:00 - Independent work time

Daycare Assistance
Below is a Missouri notice that childcare subsidy is currently available to help working parents of school-age children pay for full-day childcare on days their children’s school is not in-person. It is also available for up to 90 days for parents looking or work. Parents must apply before December 31, 2020 using one of the following options:
- The best place to apply is online: https://apps.dss.mo.gov/fmwBenefitCenter/Account/SignInInfo.aspx.
- Paper application is also available: https://dss.mo.gov/fsd/child-care.htm
Applying online gives parents the ability to know the status of their application at any time. It helps ensure the documents uploaded are connected to their case, even if there is not clearly identifying information on it. It avoids the challenges encountered when connecting through the phone system.
(LINC/MARC can also help grandparents or other home-based providers get registered to receive state payment. It’s a lot to do but we can help them through it.)
I have attached a copy of the printer-friendly flier. Please contact me if you have any questions.
Thanks,

Ipad/Macbook Damage
Please do not take our devices to outside places to be serviced! You will, most likely, end up paying more and it could damage the device further - costing you double in the end!
Insurance purchase is no longer available for this school year. However, we will send devices home next year and we encourage everyone to purchase insurance.
