West JH Choir Notes

Greetings Choir Students and Parents!

We are in the home stretch for the end of the first semester. It is always hard for me to believe it has gone by so fast. I've included some upcoming events and information about West Choirs and some social and educational growth opportunities. Thank you for sharing you student with me. It is my joy to be able to share my love of music with each of them.

About Mrs. Allen

Find joy in what you were created to do.

This is my 5th year to teach at West JH. I graduated from the University of North Texas with a B.S. degree in Music Education and Elementary Education. I was a second grade teacher in Garland for two years right out of college. I stayed home with my "babies" for several years and then taught in Frisco before landing my dream job at West in RISD. I live in Hackberry, which is about an hour drive close to far West Frisco/Little Elm area.
I've been married to Steve Allen for almost 2 years. I have 3 children: Ryan (a paramedic in College Station) who was married this fall to his lovely bride Jade (also a paramedic in College Station), my middle son Dave (who sings and plays guitar and will be starting his certification in sound engineering this spring), and my daughter Aubri (who is a junior at Wakeland HS and is involved in Color Guard and just recently auditioned for the DCI Blue Devils.)
I am a music director at my church in Frisco and am currently working on a children's musical that will be performed in February. I also love to cook and I'm hoping to write a cookbook so that I can help in funding my daughter's Drum Corps dream this summer. I mustn't leave out our dog, Chimmichanga. He is a lovable and not so bright Australian Shepherd we rescued from the SPCA on Aubri's 14th birthday.
