Winter/Spring Kid Chess Registration
Notes from Nurse G
Dear Families,
Getting back into those early morning routines can be rough for both parents and students! It can be especially hard on students when they do not have enough sleep. Did you know that, according to the National Sleep Foundation, school age children ages 6-13 years old should get 9-11 hours of sleep a night? This allows their brain and body to rest, helps them stay healthy and has a positive influence on their classroom performance.
Winter has made it to Georgia and decided to stay! Which means our heater is going full time in the classrooms. To help keep your student warm and comfortable I recommend layering your child’s clothing (i.e. long sleeve shirt, then a sweater/sweatshirt, and finally a coat). This will help them stay comfortable instead of over heating in coats while sitting in the classroom.
Please make sure your child brings a water bottle to school every day to stay well-hydrated. I also recommend socks and sneakers for footwear, these not only protect your child’s feet from injury (i.e. ant bites, wood chips, etc.), but also they are safer to run and climb in while on the playground.
For all students, including older students, please place spare clothing in their back pack. Sometimes students have spills, fall in the mud, or rip clothing that require a change, especially pants.
If your child has vomited, had diarrhea, or a temperature of 100.0 degrees Fahrenheit or higher, they must be symptom free, without any medication use, for at least 24 hours before they may return to school. Please help us keep all of our kids at Big Creek healthy by following these guidelines set by the CDC & CHOA.
Finally, please let both their teacher and I know if your child has a contagious disease, ie: Flu, Strep, Lice, Conjunctivitis (Pink Eye), Mono, Meningitis, Chicken Pox, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Coxsackie Virus (Hand, Foot, & Mouth), Fifths Disease, MRSA, Impetigo, etc. This information is kept confidential, but is necessary to help us control any potential outbreaks (I am required to report these diagnoses to our county lead). If we have multiple cases (often 2 or more) in a class, within a short period of time, a letter will be sent home to keep you aware of the situation, but no names or personal information will be released.
As always please do not hesitate to let me know if you have any questions or concerns. I may be reached at gsampson@forsyth.k12.ga.us or 770-887-4584 x710402.
Thank you for helping to keep all of our Wildcats as healthy as possible!
