Hero Headlines HMS Staff News
October 7, 2019
General Announcements.....
- For those of you that are National Board Certified - please read.
- As you all know, we have tried to have flexible learning in lieu of a faculty meeting every other week. Occasionally, we have “need to know” information that is important for all faculty to get and we just need to meet...therefore, here’s a heads-up, we will have two faculty meetings in October. October 8th (3:30-4:15) & 15th (3:30-4:30). We will not have a Huddle on Oct. 1st or 29th.
- Continuing on the idea of discourse and purposeful oral language that I mentioned last week, check out this video from Edutopia. What are your take-aways? What are we doing to support discourse among students? Are our students talking enough? What can we do to embed conversation in the classroom?
- I met on Friday with a large contingency of faculty from all over the district about 7th grade soccer. They are pursuing a plan to give support to the middle schools for soccer in 7th & 8th grades AND there is partnership with Parks & Recreation for this. Please contact me if you are interested in coaching 7th grade soccer. The goal is to have a stipend for these coaches, although I'm certain, like all coaching, you should also have a love and desire to do the work. Please let me know if you are interested.
- Check out the email Michael Tapee sent on Oct. 4th about BreakoutEDU. Here is the link to the codes. Please let admin know when you have them planned and hopefully we can get down and see this in action!
