FSC Principal's Update

March 25, 2022

Finneytown Families,

Thanks for a great first day of testing Wednesday. We will have the same students at 8:00 next Wednesday for Part 2 of ELA (6th, 7th, 8th, and 10th (ELA 2). The others (9,11, and 12) report again at 10:00. Most of our students showed up, were on time, and worked really hard on their test. That is all that we can ask for.

We have some exciting events coming up on campus: The Sound of Music, Wildcat Cup, PTA carnival tomorrow at Whitaker, and all of our senior celebrations. I look forward to seeing many of you and getting a chance to chat outside of our normal workday. If I don't know you, please stop me and introduce yourself!!

As always, if you have any questions, please reach out.

Staff Spotlight (Mike Grote)

Hi my name is Mike Grote, and I am the "new guy" that has been sending out PPE and recycling emails; and the one who has taken over in the MD classroom at the high school level. I have also recently taken on the bottle cap collection project and will be sharing more information on that soon. So, as for me, I have been in education for the last 16 years. I was an instructional assistant in a multiple disabilities class for almost 7 years. During that time, I decided to go back to school and get my degree in special education at Miami University. I taught at Lakota as a multiple disabilities teacher for 8 years and then decided to move on. I am super excited to have the opportunity to be a part of the Finneytown family!

I currently live in Wyoming, OH with my wife Tisha, my three crazy kids Fira (Fear-uh) who is 8, Tyce (7), and Elis (5). During my free time - what is that?- I enjoy spending time with my family, riding my mountain bike, and photography. I love everything about music, and enjoy listening to it, singing it, and playing it. Please feel free to stop in and say hi (room 241) at any time.

Summer Learning (ELO)

Mark your calendar! Finneytown’s summer Extended Learning Opportunity will be Monday, August 15th through Friday, August 19th. All students currently enrolled in kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade are invited to attend. It will take place from 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. each day at Brent Elementary. More details and the opportunity to sign your child/children up will follow soon!

PTA Carnival Tomorrow!

This year’s Elementary PTA Carnival will be at Whitaker Elementary on Saturday, March 26, from 11am-3pm. Teen volunteers are welcome to help with concessions, face painting, and games! Please contact volunteer chair Stephanie Haarlammert at 513-295-2677 (call or text) or steph.haarlammert@gmail.com if you have questions about volunteering. If you have general questions about the carnival, you can contact carnival chair April Statt at april.statt@gmail.com. Many hands make light work, and the carnival is always so much fun!
