CIS Parent Connection
February 12, 2021
Hello CIS Families,
Happy Valentine's Day Weekend!! It was a wonderful day at CIS, and the Bluejacket Pride Celebration and end-of-the-day Valentine's Day festivities were a great way to end the week.
We continue to grow and gain traction with our learning! Routines are now solidly in place, and students and staff are fully engaged! Families deserve credit too, as getting children into routines at home - bedtimes, reading/homework, etc. - are needed to support the overall school experience.
Picture Day Feb 18/19
Picture day appears to finally be happening!! Please check the schedule below to determine the day your child's classroom will have their picture taken.
I Love to READ
As most of you know, February is I Love to READ month. Each grade level has activities/plans/goals set to help foster the love of reading. If you don't already know, please ask your child what is happening in their classroom. Below you see a link for a short (< 4 minutes) and article that shares how parents can help. While much is nothing new, there are some good/new points too. Please take a few minutes to watch/read.
Masks
Please make sure your child has a couple of masks with them each day. Proper use of masks and wearing them correctly is part of the puzzle that will help keep our students in school and both students/staff as safe as possible. If they are cloth, please make sure they get washed often.
REMINDER:

Student Drop Off and Pick Up - THANK YOU!!
A big thanks to our families who are dropping off and picking up students! I believe it is going VERY well, and that is because of your patience and planning!
I know not everyone likes to pull forward and merge at the cones, but it does help us use space in both lanes and keep cars out of the intersection. Cars have/will let you merge at the cones. So, when there are cars in the left - travel lane and you are in the drop off lane, please pull forward and continue to merge at the cone. If there aren't cars in the travel lane, feel free to merge at anytime.
Contact School - please contact your child's teacher, school or principal with questions
