The J-Hawk Experience!
Info you need to know for week of November 11-15!
Message from the principal
First, we want take time to thank our veterans how have served our country as members of our armed services as Monday, November 11th, is Veterans Day. Many UHS alumni over the years have served all branches of our military. We are grateful for them and their service as well as ALL who have served!
Secondly, this past week, we took time to recognize the over 400 UHS students from grades 10, 11, and 12, who earned academic distinction during the spring of 2019 by earning a grade point of 3.5 or higher. On Wednesday, November 6th, we held a special assembly in the PAC where these students and their families heard a special message from former UMS Principal and current UCSD Human Resources Director, Loren DeKruyf. He talked about the importance of finding love in learning through finding your passions and then continuing to learn and strive to improve.
Following the ceremony, students went to the commons to get their academic certificate and other honors they have earned. Families and students enjoyed staying after and taking pictures with their students and friends. See photo below.
Thank you to all of our students who are putting in such tremendous work and are learning and achieving at high levels!
Sincerely,
Tim Carver
Principal

ASVAB Testing info
ASVAB Testing info
Urbandale High School is participating in the Department of Defense ASVAB Career Exploration Program. Students’ ASVAB test results will help interpret strengths and identify areas where students have an aptitude. Many people use the program results to help provide focus for their college major. Additionally, for those students in 12thgrade, who think that a military career is a direction they would like to pursue, the ASVAB results can be used for military enlistment.
Students participating in the ASVAB Career Exploration Program have no obligation to the military or to talk to a military recruiter.
This test is optional and available to any student in grades 10-12.
The ASVAB will be offered at UHS on Wednesday, November 13, from 2:00-4:00 p.m., in room 237.
Students can sign up in advance in the counseling office or contact their counselor.
Please contact your student’s counselor with questions.
