More information will be coming regarding scheduling a conference.
Hybrid schooling
This advance notice will allow your child's teacher the time it takes to put activities into Seesaw that can be worked on throughout the day. Aside from this early morning time, the teachers do not have much opportunity to get these materials into Seesaw until closer to the very end of the school day (3:30 p.m.). Since hybrid activities must be completed prior to the end of the day (11:59 p.m.), it would behoove each of us to work together so that your child can have the best opportunity. In addition, sick days are still an excused absence if your child is not well enough to complete assignments and both of these absences can be selected in Skyward.
Thank you to those who have already provided us with as much advance notice as possible regarding any absences. Together we can achieve more!
Health Room
Information was sent home in August about the upcoming influenza vaccination clinic offered by Health Hero PA in our Red Lion schools. This program is a voluntary program at school to help prevent the flu, a common disease that impacts student absenteeism. To help you keep your child well, Health Hero will be providing injectable flu vaccinations on Monday, October 5th at the Red Lion Area School District buildings. To take part in this program, please return the consent form that was sent out at the beginning of the year or contact your child's school nurse for another form to be sent home with your child(ren).
Medication Policy Reminder
Please do not send medication to school with your child. School policy states that any medication must be brought to the health room by an adult. This includes over-the-counter medications too.
Physical Forms
Reminder - All Kindergarten and 6th grade students need to submit a completed physical from, along with updated immunization records, by November 15th 2020.
Dental News
The state of Pennsylvania requires that students receive a dental exam upon:
Entering school--Kindergarten or First Grade
Entering Third Grade
Entering Seventh Grade
This exam must be completed within one year before the start of school. Any exam done after August 24, 2019, will meet the requirements.
Your family dentist can best evaluate your student's teeth, provide a more extensive examination, and assist you in determining any necessary treatment or correction. Parents are encouraged to schedule appointments with their family dentist. The form entitled, Family Dentist Report, is used when your child is seen by your family dentist for a regular check-up. Upon completion of this exam, please return the form to your child's school nurse.
If you do not have a dentist, a school dental screening done by the school dental hygienist will be necessary to meet state requirements. In this case, please sign the permission slip authorizing the school dental hygienist to conduct the screening. In addition to the screening service, the dental hygienist can provide a professional dental cleaning. If you are interested in this service, please print out and signify this on the permission form below and return the slip to your child's school nurse.
Cafeteria
The nationwide waiver to allow Summer Food Service Program and Seamless Summer Option Operations has been extended through December 2020, which means that all students receive free breakfast and/or lunch through December of 2020. However, if you otherwise would qualify for free lunch, you will still need to apply for those benefits so that you continue to receive free/reduced lunch once the summer program ends in December.
Red Lion Area School District has made it faster and easier for parents to apply for Free and Reduced meals.
Simply log in to: www.schoolcafe.com
or www.compass.state.pa.us
Your application will be electronically submitted directly to the child nutrition office for processing.
Students who qualify can receive both breakfast and lunch at a free or reduced price.

Transportation
Please remind your student(s) that face coverings must be worn over the nose and mouth while on the school bus. Proper bus stop behavior is standing at the stop, and not playing games or horsing around and not going onto or disturbing someone else's property. Also, please remind your student(s) there are several bus rules and one of them is that there is NO food or drink permitted on the school bus. There is the potential for another student to have an allergic reaction to that item.

Ipad Care and Maintenance
The students are becoming more familiar with taking home and returning to school with their iPads. So that we can make the iPads last as long as possible, it would be helpful if you reviewed this newsletter sent at the beginning of the year, one more time. We have some issues that have affected the functionality of these devices on a few occasions and depend very much on these for instructional purposes daily. Your continued support is greatly appreciated.
