Seniors! Did you know the local scholarship options are really heating up? There are a lot of opportunities to for local money out there. Make an appointment with your counselor if you missed the session last week.

Register online at http://actstudent.org Remember if you have taken it before you need your ACT ID (found on your test results to re-register).All students have access to a FREE ACT Prep Course in their Naviance account.
All Class of 2025 Juniors will be taking the ACT Test (free of charge) on Feb 27th at LHS.

National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC) via FREE WorkKeys Assessment
All members of the Class of 2024 (Seniors) will sit for the WorkKeys online assessment free of charge on February 27th at LHS. The WorkKeys score can be used towards an Honors Diploma (NEW REQUIREMENTS) as well as earning students an NCRC. The NCRC is a portable, evidence-based credential earned to help our students share the essential foundational skills for workplace success. For the Class of 2023, 47% of the class, 66 students earned their NCRC last year. You can learn more about the NCRC here.
February 27th our 10th grade students will be taking the ASVAB
The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) not only reveals career information for our students, did you know it can also be used as a Student Strength Replacement for earning an Honors Diploma for scoring 50+!? Students will also have an ASVAB Interpretation session on March 13th. NEW Honors Diploma Criteria here.
Graduation Banners for Class of 2024
It's time to order those senior banners and yard signs to celebrate your student's success! The Lancer Print club is offering 3 different options. You can pick up an order form in the office, library or Student Success Center. All orders are due by April 22.
March Madness Change Challenge
Our LHS MTSS Team will be sponsoring a March Madness Change Challenge. The goal is to help to raise money towards our trip to Kings Island for the winning class. Ask your student how their class is doing in the Change Challenge which will start on March 4th.
FAFSA Updates- Get Free online assistance!!
Families can also use our Counseling FAFSA resources page to assist them. We have a recorded FAFSA meeting, links to college deadlines as well as next steps in the process.

CTEC Career Awareness Event
C-TEC will be holding a Career Awareness Event, formerly known as Senior Spotlight, in C-TECβs Postsecondary Center Tuesday, April 16th for any seniors looking to go into a skilled trade or straight into the workforce. Juniors who show solid interest may attend as well.
The day will run from 10:00 to 1:00 pm, and it will provide students a tour of our postsecondary programs, a conversation with program coordinators, and a chance to attend a job fair with some great companies looking to hire. Students will be provided lunch while they are with us.
A Fast Track to Success for Graduating Seniors - March 13 at 6:30 pm
- Intended audience: Ohio parents grades 11 & 12 (although all grades are welcome!) Learn about:
- Overview of the career and technical centers across Ohio
- The types of programs, training, and credentials available
- How to evaluate if this path is right for your student
- Details on how to get started, where to find more information, types of programs available, timing, costs, etc.
College Credit Plus (CCP) Meeting dates and time as well as Next Steps
Last year, Lakewood students earned over 400 credit hours via CCP. They are enrolled with four area institutions of higher learning.
If you still need to attend a meeting (student and parent) regarding the Risks and Benefits of enrolling in CCP, there is still another opportunity from our friends at MVNU. March 11th (virtual) and 12th (in person). Register via the flier below.
Intent to Participate Forms are due to the counseling office by M 4/2/2024 for next year. Students in CCP need to do this form each year they plan to participate in CCP.
