MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL OPHUS
Dear Fairview Families,
We’ve had a great week here at Fairview! Throughout the week, students have learned more about different disabilities, heard inspiring stories and had great discussions as a result of the activities planned for Disability Awareness Week. As shared last week, as part of this week, we are raising funds for Gerry’s Cafe, a local business that hires and trains employees with intellectual and developmental disabilities. If you’d like to support this cause, please click on this link for more details.
On Tuesday, students had a blast learning all about the science behind lasers, how they work, what they are used for and the importance of being safe while using them at our PTO sponsored assembly entitled The Science Spectacular Laser Show presented by Prismatic Magic. This show included several laser light displays set to music that got the students singing and dancing and also involved students in some whole group games for everyone to enjoy. It truly was both educational and a whole lot of fun! We are able to hold these extra events for our students as a result of the funds we’ve raised for our school through Falcon Jump, PTO membership and various other fundraisers throughout the year, so thank you for your generosity to our school. Special thanks to Jacki Kochanski and Audrey Canavino for taking the lead on organizing school assemblies this year and to Zanna Biasi for attending the event and supporting the presenter on behalf of the PTO.
Next week is an exciting time for the entire Fairview community as we will be having our first on stage 5th Grade Musical since the spring of 2019. With the uncertainty of the pandemic still looming, Mrs. Happ took a creative approach to the musical this year by having each individual class perform its own musical performance. This allows for smaller crowd sizes and has given more students the opportunity to take on a larger role in the production. We look forward to having each class perform between Monday, April 11th and Wednesday, April 13th. All of our students in grades 2-4 will be able to watch one of the dress rehearsals, which gives our students another opportunity to perform in front of their peers. We are very excited to see our students shine on stage once again next week! Thank you for taking the time to read today’s newsletter. Have a wonderful weekend ahead!
Sincerely,
Dan Ophus
Fairview Principal
