Principal's Message

Hello Eagle Crest Families,

This week we had a very special and unique experience here at Eagle Crest. We celebrated “Mwebaza Day” by connecting with our friends at the Mwebaza Annex School in Uganda. As you know, this long standing partnership has been a pinnacle of our programming and focus on global connection here at Eagle Crest. During the live call both schools shared songs and presentations, plus we were able to do a long question and answer session between the students. Finally, we had a chance to do a “toast” with passion fruit juice (a staple in Uganda) which our students here loved!

The celebration continued throughout the day with each classroom reading books about our connections, thinking about and sharing ways we feel connected to our friends across the globe. Each grade level had a differentiated activity, specially designed to widen our global perspective in an age-appropriate way.

This is just another example of our fabulous staff and community partners coming together to bring leadership and global citizenship opportunities to our young learners!

Warmly,

Amanda

100 Mile Club

Our 100 Mile Club has been greatly impacted by snowy, cold mornings and a muddy track. We are crossing our fingers for warmer weather ahead, and we are excited to re-invite students and families to participate.

100 Mile Club is a long standing tradition at ECES and it is a great opportunity for your students to improve their health awareness, social well-being, and build self-confidence as they reach goals along the way.

Over the course of the spring we will be running laps on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings, in order to reach the big goal of completing 100 miles! Students in grades K-1 must be accompanied by an adult, but all families are welcome to join us. In fact, in the past many families have shared that this has been a great opportunity to connect with others and make friends in the community. We would also love to have some extra parent volunteers each morning to help us help the students track their laps/miles.

As students reach milestones along the way they will be awarded with incentives. At the completion of the first 25 miles, your student will receive a 100 Mile Club t-shirt. Once your student reaches 50 miles they will receive a pencil. Upon reaching 75 miles, your student earns a wristband. Finally, when your child reaches 100 miles, they will be awarded a very special 100 Mile Club medal.

The registration cost for 100 Mile Club is $20 per runner this year. We have switched over to the ONLINE ONLY registrations again this year. As part of the online registration you will pay through Revtrak using the link below. All students must register online before arriving to 100 Mile Club in the morning.

Vaccination Data

Some parents, especially those with students who have weakened immune systems, may want to know which schools have the highest percent of vaccinated students. Schools must report immunization and exemption numbers (but not student names or birth dates) to the state health department annually. Schools do not control their specific immunization and exemption rates or establish the Vaccinated Children Standard described in $25-4-911, CRS. Schools must include their MMR immunization and exemption rates from the most recently completed school year in this letter. Schools may choose to also include immunization and exemption rates for other school-required vaccines. Please see this linked document for ECES vaccination rates. Additional immunization and exemption rates can be found at CoVaxRates.org.

myON Reading Challenge

There will be a myON Reading Challenge over Spring Break!

The top two readers from our school will win a prize!
