Tree Bark Dress

Pushing the boundaries of squirrel homes and paper companies

How it happened

Nobody thought Jessica Tenczar could create the majestic tree-bark dress she envisioned, but with her strong will and advanced sewing capabilities ( Jessica started sewing at the age of 4), she brought an amazing concept to life.

Jessica is a current junior at the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston, and decided to peruse the project for their recent "no textile" assignment at school. Most of her friends exclaimed the bark would be much to brittle for clothing material, but Jessica was up for the challenge.

"I was finally where I wanted to be, getting to do what I wanted to do, and I wanted the dress to reflect that," she reply's when asked about her spontaneous idea. The dress received lots of positive attention as well as the important experience Jessica gained from going through with the project.
