For the second consecutive year, WCPSS will partner with the Carolina Hurricanes to bring READvolution to all elementary schools. This exciting partnership will support a community-wide literacy campaign around daily reading outside of school, plus allow students the chance to attend a Hurricanes game.

This year the READvolution time frame will be between Monday, Sept. 24 and Friday, Nov. 16, 2018. Your child will be able to be part of this event by reading daily for 20 minutes!

This year’s challenge features both individual and school-wide components, as well as goals for each.

The individual component will include the following:

● Through an online tracking system, students will provide their name and the number of minutes read each day. Please see the log-in instructions.

● Students who achieve the goal of reading 20 minutes per day throughout the allotted time frame (for a total of 800 minutes) will receive two complimentary ticket vouchers to a Hurricanes home game.

This information is available in Spanish HERE and more information can be found on the WCPSS READvolution site found HERE.

Thank you for your willingness to participate in the READvolution program! We appreciate this opportunity to build lifelong readers and learners in our community.

We love volunteers at HSES! In order to volunteer, you must complete the volunteer application each year. We have computers set up at the school that you can utilize to register and registration must be completed at the school. Just stop by the front office and they will direct you to the computers we have set up for this. For more information on volunteering, you can visit the WCPSS Site found HERE. Cultural Arts

We were scheduled to have our first Cultural Arts presentation for Tracks 2,3,4 today. That has tentatively been rescheduled for Saturday 9/22/18!

Our Holly Springs Fun Run program kicked off yesterday with an exciting Pep Rally, and we are thrilled about this year’s program! We’ve asked the Fun Run experts at Boosterthon to power our two-week Fun Run program, making our fundraising simpler, more profitable, and more fun. Our Fun Run includes EVERY student in a fun, fitness event that focuses on character while helping our school raise much-needed funds.

This year, our entire school is raising funds for Laptops, Literacy, and Landscaping. Our goal is to raise $28,000, and we need YOUR help!

Here’s how you can support Holly Springs:

  • Register your student on by searching “Holly Springs Elementary then use to log pledges for your child.
  • Reach out to sponsors. Every student’s goal is to connect with 10 sponsors. And with’s smart sharing features, reaching out to sponsors is easier than ever. The easiest way to get pledges is to simply click the Facebook share button on your student’s pledge page. Plus, with a few clicks you can create a custom Student Star video to share on social media. You can also use the Easy Emailer to connect with friends and family. As you gather pledges, be sure to record each sponsor’s e-mail address so they have the opportunity to easily pay for your student’s pledge online via credit card.
  • Ask your child about the MindSpark Mystery Lab Character Lesson of the day! This year’s character program is a S.T.E.A.M theme all about solving problems with character. As they solve mysteries together, five brainy students will encourage our students to live with character. Join along by watching the fun character videos with your child on
  • Come to the Fun Run on Friday, September 28th (Track 4) and Monday, October 8th (Tracks 1, 2, & 3)! All students are included in the Fun Run, regardless of financial participation. Remember, students will be running 30-35 laps, and we would love for you to come out and cheer!

Thank you for supporting our school. We hope to see you at the Fun Run!

Does your child enjoy art, music and dance or have an interest in writing, producing films and taking photos? Then join us and have fun unleashing your inner artist with PTA Reflections! This year’s theme, “Heroes Around Me,” calls for your own unique interpretation through the arts. Email with questions. Let us know you are working on a project by signing filling out this form. Projects are due October 19th . For inspiration, visit the Reflections virtual art gallery and learn more about prizes and scholarships at Download the student packet with registration form here.

Registration is OPEN for the 2018-2019 Holly Springs Elementary School Science Fair.

Registration will close on October 15, 2018. Please note that this year's Science Fair will be judged. Every student who enters the Science Fair will receive the minimum of a participation ribbon. Projects submitted by students in grades K-2 will be provided positive feedback by our volunteer judges. Judges will use a checklist to evaluate the projects and provide feedback. There will be 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each individual grade. All students will receive a participation ribbon. Projects submitted by students in grades 3-5 will be carefully examined by 3-4 volunteer judges. Judges will use a rubric to score individual projects. There will be 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place and 2 honorable mention awards given to the five highest scoring projects. These five student projects will be invited to represent our school in the 2019 NC Regional Science Fair on February 10th, 2018! All students will receive a participation ribbon.

Attention all 5th grade parents!

Please fill out and return to your teacher the red contact information paper that you student brought home ASAP. This is needed to keep you updated on all the 5th grade volunteer opportunities and end of year celebration.

Class PTA Reps needed!

We would like to have a parent rep from each classroom to act as a liaison between the PTA Board and parents. This rep would collect email addresses and contact consent from parents in your class and use that information to send updates, volunteer opportunities, upcoming events, etc. Since everything can be done from home, this position is a perfect opportunity for a working parent or a parent with young children at home who wants to help, but can’t come in to school during the day. Let your teacher know you want to volunteer to be your classroom PTA Rep!

Rent or renew one or more 19" print with your family or child's name painted on it. One Paw $50, each additional Paw $35 or renew your current paw(s)-one Paw Renewal $40, each additional $25. All of the money raised goes directly to our HSES PTA. Advertise your business with a paw for $100. Rent your "paw" until the end of the school year and you will have the opportunity to rent it again next year. Forms will be coming home with your children soon!
