I'd like to commend the overwhelming majority of students who paid attention to the Prom outside guest form process and deadline of 3/8 at noon. This deadline was communicated in many ways: in this newsletter since 1/22/23, reminders on the daily Copper Heads Up and loudspeaker since 2/27/23, and 2 direct emails to students that included the Google Form link and instructions, along with a reminder to parents on 3/6/23. The majority of students did an excellent job with this, which helps us plan and helps with safety considerations. You are to be commended.

Please remember the last day to purchase a ticket for Prom is Wednesday March 15th. The portal will close at midnight on this date. Don’t miss this date.

Other items for your attention:

• Prom tickets are on sale through PayFees. The final ticket purchase deadline is 3/15. No exceptions! See below for more info.
• The district is hosting a special event for parents - "Secrets of Social Media" on 3/14 (details below). This is great way to learn more about the impacts of social media on our teens and how to keep them safe.
• Free tutoring: Please encourage your students to take advantage of this resource. The signup link is below.
• SAT Test Day for Juniors: Juniors who registered to take the SAT on 3/22 are not excused after the test (4th Block). If you choose to use 1 of the 2 Parent Notes for the semester to excuse your student after testing, that note must be provided in advance, in writing, to Attendance. Phone calls/emails will not be accepted. Freshmen and Sophomores will attend class per their regular schedule.
  
• SENIORS! Job Shadow/College Visit Day: Seniors are excused for Job Shadow/College/Technical School Visit Day 3/22 due to SAT testing.

2023 Mid-Carolina Region Scholastic Art Awards: Gold and Silver Key Exhibit with work by Catawba Ridge Artists Anastasia Lando, Haley Nichols, Ethan Sellers, and Allie Sinclair will be March 17-April 23, 2023, at the Mint Museum Uptown in Charlotte, NC. The show will feature over 300 pieces of student work from the Mid-Carolina Art Region.
