Principal's Message
Happy March!!!
Good Afternoon PLV Families -
Hope everyone has enjoyed their weekend and this crazy spring/winter weather!
Please welcome our new Constable, Mr. Fred Filippone to Pleasantville. He comes to Colonial with many experiences. He was a Wilmington Police Officer for 20 years and when he retired he worked for the Delaware City Police Department for 5 years. He served in the military and served in Afghanistan for a year. He retired from our military after 20+ years then joined Christian Care as a Constable for 9 years. He is one of many constables around Colonial that help keep our schools safe.
On Tuesday, February 28th, we will have our second Lockdown Drill of the school year. We practice safety drills once a month so that if we ever have an emergency, our students and staff know what to do in order to keep everyone safe.
This week, our 4th grade students will take the mid-year Social Studies State Test. Testing will begin on Wednesday, March 1st and continue with Make Ups through Friday, March 3rd.
Last Friday, our 4th & 5th Graders went on a fun field trip to the Delaware Museum of Nature & Science. They all had a great time!! Our 2nd & 3rd graders can't wait to go in April and I know that our KN and 1st grade teachers are planning now for upcoming field trips. If you are interested in being a Chaperone on any field trips, you MUST complete the volunteer application and submit all the information requested. Click HERE to apply. This process takes up to 7 days, so please do not hesitate.
Spring Individual & Class Picture Day is Thursday, March 9th. Picture forms will be delivered to school soon, but if you would like to order online to build your own package - Code: 1240SG. Code will expire 24hrs after picture day.
Parent Teacher Conferences will be Thursday, March 30th and Friday, March 31st. Look for conference sign ups from your child's teacher in the next two weeks. There will be No School for students on these two days.
Thank you to all of our students, families and staff that donated items for PLV's Community Service Project these past two weeks. this week items will be sorted and added to Care Bags, that students created to hand out to community members in need. Thank you all for your generosity.

Student applicants will also be scheduled to take a Kindergarten Readiness Assessment once the Choice Application is submitted. The goal is to enroll a maximum of 50 students in the program. Students would have an English Language teacher for English (Mrs. Nicole Belasco) and Social Studies for half of their day and then the Spanish Language teacher (TBD) for Math, Science and Spanish Literacy the other part of the student day. We are excited to have KN Spanish Immersion join our 4th and 5th Grade Chinese Immersion Program next year.
