2. Have you had known close contact with a person who has tested positive for COVID-19

**Students must stay home if they answer “yes” to any of the above.
· Students may transition temporarily to the CFISD Connect remote learning option during this period with the ability to keep up with instruction and meet attendance requirements.
· Students who show symptoms of COVID-19 at school will be evaluated by the nurse. The nurse will determine whether that child can remain at school.

No Place For Hate Book of the Month- This month our staff and students will be participating in our second NPFH Activity, the book of the month. This year we will have two books of the month. For our Primary students, PK-2nd, the book of the month is, “I Walk With Vanessa” by Kerascoet! I Walk with Vanessa, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bF1FhV_Bw3w , is a simple yet powerful wordless book that tells the story of one girl who inspires a community to stand up to a bully. The book of the month for our 3rd-5th graders is, “Confessions of a Former Bully” by Trudy Ludwig. After Katie gets caught teasing a schoolmate, she’s told to meet with Mrs. Petrowski, the school counselor, so she can make right her wrong and learn to be a better friend. Bothered at first, it doesn’t take long before Katie realizes that bullying has hurt not only the people around her, but her as well. Both books will be introduced at the beginning of the month and when the books are completed each student will complete an activity to represent book and what they have learned. We will be reading the book as a school and each grade level will complete an activity.
The books of the month will be our introduction to our Great Kindness Week in March.
· Great Kindness Week is coming to Holmsley in March! This will be a week filled with respect and kindness for all!
MESSAGE FROM OUR REGISTRAR
Tardies
The school day begins promptly at 8:40 a.m. Students who are not in the building at this time are considered tardy and will be asked to report to the office for an Admit to Class slip. ALL TARDIES ARE CONSIDERED UNEXCUSED UNLESS A DOCTOR’S NOTE IS PROVIDED.
When Your Child is Absent
When your child is absent, it is not necessary at the elementary level to call the school to report the absence. Calling will not excuse your child’s absence. You can send a note with the student, fax it to 281-463-5529. If you fax the note, please call us to confirm we received it. Please include the student’s first name, last name, and homeroom teacher on the excuse note. Remember to always send an excuse note with your child within three days when they return to school, explaining the reason for the absence. If your child is sent home by the nurse and is absent any following days, we will need a note to excuse those absences. Under the Mandatory Attendance Law, the state requires a court warning for excessive absences. Any excuse received after three days is considered unexcused and could result in a court warning.
Moving? Withdrawing Your Child from School?
Please notify Ms. Olivarez in the attendance office 24-48 hours before withdrawing your child from school. The withdrawal process goes much faster and smoother with the extra notification. This extra time allows Ms. Olivarez to notify teachers, the librarian, get materials together, etc. A consent form will need to be signed by the parent or legal guardian. You will need these papers to register at the new school.
SCHOOL INFORMATION

Transportation Changes
If you need to change your child’s transportation, please send a note with your child or fax it to 281-463-5529. If you fax the note, please call us to confirm we received it. All notes must include child’s full name, teacher, and whether the change is permanent or temporary. Please specify the date(s). All changes must be in writing. No changes will be made after 3:00 p.m.
