Greetings Hawks!

What a great week it was at Orchard Hill Elementary. Every day students and staff showed their school pride by dressing up for our spirit week. The highlight was our first annual Trunk or Treat on Thursday night. The atmosphere was fun and festive. It was heart warming to see the support of the community through donations and time. A huge shout out to our PTA members. Without their vision and effort, this event would not have happened. Thank you also to all the families that donated candy and decorations. I know that our students had fun and were grateful for the chance to be a kid and do something that felt an awful lot like normal. We ended the week with our traditional costume parade around the school which is a school favorite every year.

Next week will be a shorter week with no school on Friday, November 5th. It's the end of the grading period and a teacher inservice day. School pictures are scheduled for Thursday, November 4th so be sure to read the information included in this newsletter about how to order a school picture packet.

Have a great weekend Hawks!

HALLOWEEN FUN AT ORCHARD HILL

We were so excited to have our first big event of the school year. The Trunk or Treat was a hit and huge success. It was fun to see so many families enjoying themselves and the costumes were epic. We were also able to pickup our tradition of the Halloween Costume Parade today and the kids and staff had so much fun.

FLU SHOTS AVAILABLE FOR STUDENTS

For families that want their student to receive a flu shot this year, Nurse Carol will be able to administer it during school hours. Download the form below, print it out, and send it back to the office. After we have received the interest form, a LaClinica Health Clinic consent form will be sent home with your student. If you have any questions about the flu shot, you can contact our Nurse Carol directly at 541-897-5102.

SCHOOL BULLETIN THROUGH POWERSCHOOL

Did you know that you can request email notifications for the school bulletin through your Powerschool Parent account? To set it up, follow the steps listed below:

Click on the link to login ----> POWERSCHOOL LOGIN

Log in to your Powerschool Parent account using your username and password that was setup to register your student.

Upon logging in, click on the menu item EMAIL NOTIFICATIONS and check the box next to SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS.

Then set the frequency for the emails -- daily, weekly, monthly, etc. Weekly is usually sufficient for this information. Hit SUBMIT.

At the elementary level, we do not do progress reports so notifications will not work for that option. It's primarily meant for middle & high school. If a student is tardy to class (anything past 7:50 am is tardy), the teacher will mark them absent and then the office will confirm that they were tardy.
