APEX - Our APEX PTA fundraiser begins this week. We will all head to the cafeteria for an assembly on Monday at 1:45 pm. Don't forget to wear your APEX t-shirts & jeans on Monday! Feel free to wear additional fun items at the pep rally too. The kids love to see us all act a little crazy! I will forward an email to you sometime on Monday. It is SUPER important that you send this home to your families. If you can personalize it, please do. Your families will definitely respond to you!!
Math DCA - I will be meeting with 2nd & 3rd grade teachers on Monday and 4th grade Math teachers on Tuesday during your planning time to discuss class data. Remember as a team, you should have already reflected on the following questions prior to our scheduled data talk. It was a busy week last week. If you and your team were not able to visit, we can reschedule our meeting. Stop by and we can pick another date.
Which TEKS/SEs have students mastered?
Which TEKS/SEs have students not mastered and why?
What will your plan be to remediate and/or reteach to ensure each student masters the content.
You can find a copy of the agenda in our Team Meeting/Tuesday PLC folder in our Shared Documents.

Copy Update
Remember, starting in November you will be able to see your budgeted amount on both copiers. I was given a breakdown of the number of copies you can make. You can make 120 copies for every dollar of your budget.
When planning with your team, I want you to continue to look at what you are wanting to copy. If it can be recreated in a journal or on a piece of notebook paper, don't make a copy. If it is just something for kids to color, don't make a copy. Thanksgiving and Christmas are coming up and I don't want you to use up copies for just a decoration. If it's a word find, word search, crossword puzzle, don't make a copy. Graphic organizers and/or notes can all be created on a sheet of notebook paper, manilla construction paper or in journals.
NEW Information-
- You will no longer be asked to make copies of the answer documents for DCAs. The office staff will take care of that for you!
- Also, the storage room door in the office that houses all of our supplies and paper will remain locked. Debbie will be able to help you with any supplies that you need.
- Many have asked if they can use their own paper in the machines. Since these are leased machines that come with technical service, our machines can only use paper purchased with campus/district funds.
I do understand that all of this continues to be stressful for many of you. I do appreciate how you and your teams are working together to share many of the copying responsibilities for your team. I have not received the October copy report yet. Once it has been shared with me, I will give you the latest updates.

APEX Remix
Thank you for your support of Sunset Valley Elementary and the investments you make in your children’s lives. We are so excited to announce that we will be participating in the Apex Leadership Co. program again as our major PTA fundraiser for the year! The program will last for 2 weeks and will kick off with a Pep Rally on Monday, November 12th at 1:45pm. Please send home your students' Apex Pledge Kits on Monday. You will receive these at the pep rally. Our fundraiser officially begins on MONDAY, November 12 and ends on November 30. The Thanksgiving break will help ALL of our families gather even more pledges and flat donations.
During the program, students are challenged to get pledges for the fitness moves they will complete on Friday, November 30th in the gym. Students will participate for 30 minutes during co-curr and will complete an average of 26-36 fit moves. The maximum amount of fitness moves recorded is 36. Through Apex’s online pledging system, sponsors can pledge per fit move or any flat donation amount for students and can pledge from anywhere in the world!
This year, our goal is to raise $15,000 or more so that we can purchase Chromebooks and classroom libraries. As a campus, we would love to put enough computers in every classroom so that every child has access. We would also like to provide additional books for every teacher's classroom library. Many of these books would also be sent home so that parents can read even more with their child.
