Weber School Newsletter
9th February - Week 2, Term 1 - 2023
Principal's Piece
Tena Koutou Katoa Weber whanau,
I hope everyone had a lovely long weekend, classrooms are busy with new routines and this week we are all starting our rich learning inquiry of 'Citizenship' using the new New Zealand histories curriculum.
Unfortunately we are unable to use the school pool at the moment, we are experiencing some technical issues - Clearpools will be on site soon to rectify this.
Our House Captains, Sports Captain , School librarians, and Kaitiakis will be represented with their badges this Friday at our School assembly- 2.30pm in the Hub. Whanau are welcome to attend. We hope to see you there.
Just a reminder of our working bee happening on Friday 24 February, we have a range of gardening / caretake type jobs, if you are able to help for all or some of the time please contact Kirsty via email or phone. This will be from 12-3pm - afterwards stay for a sausage sizzle and a cuppa to say thanks. Many hands make light work. We so appreciate all the help we continuously get from our amazing parents and caregivers!
We welcome Alby Hales to our school community, we are excited you are here.

We would like to thank Greg Mitchell, from Growater for the prompt and hard mahi over the holidays installing our 2 brand new water tanks and water monitoring system.
We would also like to thank those who nominated Weber School during the 2022 bobby calf season, we received a donation of thirty five cents from every calf. As a result we received $135.10 from Farmer meat export. Thank you.
We would also like to thank all the wonderful members of the community that have contributed to our school by nominating us to receive fifty cents for every 100L of bulk fuel they got from Fern Fuels, as a result of this amazing generousity we have $919 in the kete, we are so close to the $1000 goal, where we then can redeem this for sporting goods, technology and music packs!

Working Bee 🐝
Please save the date (24th February) for a working bee from 12pm to 3pm.
A few jobs we would like to get done are:
*De-heading the agapanthus in front of the office
*Building shelves in the green house - treated timber would be great for this if you have any off cuts lying around
*General garden tidy and prune
*Cleaning out gutters
*Sand and paint lunch benches
*Putting the sand back into the sandpit (free of rocks)
Please bring along if you have them, a pair of gloves, secateurs, loppers, a spade, rake, ladder, hammer, nails and a drill to name a few things!
We would also like to ask if anyone has a trailer that we could borrow to put the green waste and for it to be taken away.
Please stay afterward for a cuppa and a sausage sizzle to thank you for all your hard work.
We appreciate all the help we continuously get from our amazing parents and caregivers!
Many hands make light work!!
Please email office@weber.school.nz or phone 3743808 to put your name next to a job that you will be able to complete.

DVK netball AGM
The Annual General Meeting for the Dannevirke Netball Centre will be held on Thursday 9 February, 2023 at 6.30pm in the netball pavilion at Anderson Park. It would be great to see a representative from all schools there so you know what netball will involve for the players at your school this year.
