JANUARY 28, 2024
Hello, Dolphin Families!
Don't forget to stop by Donald during the evening Thursday, February 1! We have several activities happening at Donald that evening, and you won't want to miss them. In-N-Out Burger Truck meal tickets will come home for those who pre-ordered their meals through the PTA. Families are welcome to enjoy dinner on campus before participating in STEM Night from 6PM to 7PM. Immediately after STEM Night activities are closed, the PTA will be hosting their General Meeting in the cafeteria. We hope to see everyone there!

ARRIVAL & DISMISSAL REMINDERS
- We only have ONE car drop-off line, and it is monitored by staff to ensure students are safely making it into the building.
- We have Student Safety Patrol and staff helping students out of vehicles from 7:15AM to 7:42AM.
- Drivers MAY NOT exit their vehicle in the carline for any reason.
- Students arriving after 7:42AM must open their own car door to exit the vehicle. If your family has infants or toddlers that requires you to keep child locks engaged, please ensure you are entering the carline on campus no later than 7:35AM so you child can be assisted by Safety Patrol.

DOLPHINS MAKE WAVES DURING FUTURE CITY COMPETITION
This weekend, 5th Grade students in Mrs. Emmett's GT class competed in the North Texas Future City Competition. Over the past several weeks, Mrs. Emmett and Mrs. Arundhati Naik, the team mentor and Donald parent, have supported these students as they developed a research essay, physical model, and presentation of their city. Their hard work earned 3 awards including Best Model, Best Overall, and a special award for Best Green Design. Congratulations to the forward-thinking and future-ready Dolphins!
ELLIOT & FINLEY SWIM TO VICTORY @TAAF WINTER GAMES
5th grade student, Elliott Chaney, and 2nd grade student, Finley Payne, competed January 15 and January 16 at the TAAF Winter Games. This swim meet took place in Victoria, Texas, and all competitors in the Winter Games were invited to participate based on their swim record during the most recent season. Elliott competed in the 9-10 age group and brought home Gold in the 100 Free Relay, and Silver in both the 100 Medley Relay and the 25 Backstroke! Finley competed in the 7-8 age group and brought home Gold in both Medley and Free relays as well as the 25 backstroke. She got Silver in the 25 butterfly and Bronze in the 100 Individual Medley. These Dolphins sure can swim! Congratulations, Finley and Elliot!
MEET DEVOTED DOLPHIN TAYLOR MORGAN
Hi! I'm Taylor Morgan and I am a 2nd year Devoted Dolphin. Currently I am in 7th grade at McKamy Middle School, but I attended Donald for my fourth and fifth grade years.
As a Devoted Dolphin, I help Mrs. Hamilton and her wonderful hippos. I help by setting up the classroom in the mornings, welcoming the kids, helping the students with one-on-one reading, and anything else Mrs. Hamilton needs. I chose to become a Devoted Dolphin because I love helping kids, and because Mrs. Hamilton is a rock star! This experience is teaching me valuable life skills that I will use for years to come.
My favorite memory at Donald was the Ellis Island Simulation that took place in fifth grade. After learning about immigration in social studies, the school put on an Ellis Island Simulation. All of the students received different roles and we conducted research on what it would’ve been like during that time. We dressed up and went through a simulation of arriving at Ellis Island and completed the screening process. This experience taught me a great deal and will be something I’ll never forget. In fact, we went to New York this past summer and my visit to Ellis Island was so much more interesting because of my experience at Donald!
To all the Donald Dolphins moving into Middle School, I encourage you to get involved and find nice friends.

We would love to have you volunteer in our classrooms and at extracurricular events! To get started, JOIN the Donald PTA, and then complete your yearly VOLY Background Check.
