Weekly Updates from Seaborn Lee, 8.26.19
Principal Geathers
Greetings Parents/Guardians,
It was another great week of teaching and learning at Seaborn Lee! The first two weeks of school were wonderful and we are looking forward to another productive school year. When I walk around the building it is so great to see our students in uniform and adhering to the PBIS/PAWS expectations. We are off to a great start and I look forward to another outstanding school year with your support and collaboration.
Dr. Brown, Assistant Principal
It’s hard to believe we are already starting the 3rd week of school! We started administering beginning of the year assessments to our students last week and will continue doing so this week. Some of the assessments your children are taking include BAS, GKIDS Readiness, and iRead/iReady. The purpose of the assessments are to give teachers multiple sources of information to help plan meaningful instruction for students. Feel free to reach out to your child’s teacher for an overview of their present levels. Our first SLES progress report, with work samples attached, will be sent home with your child September 5th. Be sure to review, sign, and return a copy of the report to your child’s teacher. Your involvement is very much appreciated!
Calling All Volunteers!
Thank you to all of our parents who attended the Title I Parent Resource Center Open House and Volunteer Orientation on Tuesday, August 20th. We appreciate your willingness to volunteer at the school and to assist when needed.
Please spread the word that volunteers are needed and encouraged at Seaborn Lee. If you have a neighbor who missed the orientation please have them reach out to the school, specifically,
please contact Ms. DaSilva, Parent Liaison, at dasilvak@fultonschools.org for more information.

Morning and Afternoon Car Rider Line
Additionally, there have been a few cars speeding on campus and also parents leaving their cars unattended in the car rider line to come in the building. If you need to come into the building in the morning please park in the parking lot and not in the car rider zone. Please be mindful that students are entering and exiting cars thus safety is paramount!
Note: If your child is a car rider they will need a car rider number and you will need a car rider decal for your car. Every student and parent must have a decal and number that matches. If you need to pick up a decal or a number please stop by the front office.

Attendance Updates
At Seaborn Lee we are closely monitoring student absences and late arrivals to school (tardy). Please make sure that your child arrives to school by 7:40am daily. We have noticed a large amount of students who are car riders arriving to school late. If your child plans to get breakfast from the cafeteria, please drop them off in plenty of time to maneuver through the cafeteria lines and make it to class before 7:40am. The breakfast line closes at 7:35am. Our teachers are eager to begin instruction at 7:40am.
It is also critical that you send in a note the next day whenever your child is absent. Student attendance is a critical factor in academic success thus we are asking for your support and assistance with sending your child to school every day.
PTA Meeting
The first PTA Meeting of the year will be held on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at 6:00pm. Please make plans to attend and be a part of the great things happening at Seaborn Lee!
