Fort Edward Elementary School
November News, 2018
Principal's Message
This fall has been an enjoyable and successful start to a new school year. At this time, preparations are underway for Parent-Teacher Conferences on November 16, 19 & 20th. At your conference, teachers will be able to discuss with you your child's progress thus far in the school year, and explain our updated Standards Based Report Cards. It is our hope that the new report card format will provide families with more information about their student and his/her progress in school.
We are moving forward with establishing a YMCA After School Child Care program to take place at Fort Edward Elementary. This child care program is entirely separate from Homework/Enrichment Club, which will continue to exist just as always. The YMCA program is child care for working parents who need it, and parents must pay the YMCA for this service. There is financial assistance available through Washington County. I'm told by the YMCA of Glens Falls that it takes about two months to get the program up and running, so I'm hopeful for a January start.
Finally, our students will continue to enjoy outdoor recess for as long as the weather permits. Please send students to school with warm coats, mittens and hats so they can enjoy some fresh air and exercise outside as long as we are able to. Once the weather becomes too cold, we will move into the small gym for recess time.
As Thanksgiving draws near, I am thankful for the students that make me smile on a daily basis, and for the community of Fort Edward that I have come to care about so much. I wish you and yours a very happy Thanksgiving!
~Mrs. Jones
