Week Of September 18th
Highlights From Last Week....
A peek at our learning this week...
In Reader's Workshop, we will continue to practice reading by looking at the picture and how to read by retelling a familiar story. We will continue to practice turning and talking.
In Math, we will work on finding hidden partners in numbers. For instance, in the number five, two hidden partners might be 2 and 3 or 1 and 4. The children will love playing math detectives to find out the hidden partners in numbers.
In Phonics, we will be practicing letter sounds and learning the sight word "like", please practice these words at home.
Picture Day
Notes from Mrs. Maillet
We had a GREAT week! Our kids are doing fantastic with the rules and routines!!
CHIPS and ICE CREAM at lunch: As you know, breakfast and Lunch are free, however the cafeteria does sell chips and ice cream for an extra charge of $.75 and $1.00. If your child is coming home and asking for ice cream and chips at lunch, this is what they are talking about. It is not necessary to send in extra money daily unless you want them to purchase these items.
Book Orders:
I placed the book order on Friday! I will send home the books as soon as they come in! Thank you for your support!
Thank you for all you do, keep up the great work!
Notes from Mrs. Potter
Thank you again to those who have sent in supplies for our room! :)
Notes from Mrs. Goldthwaite
Reminder:
Students should bring their red folders every day. It would be helpful that you check them each night and take out what should stay home.
Reading logs are coming back. The students love going to prize box. If you need help with books , please write me a note and I will be sure to get some books that you can borrow.
Volunteers are always needed. Please let me know if you can help! Our PTO is looking for help. I am looking for two parents to be like class parent representives for PTO.
A big Thank you to Emma's mom and Dalilah's mom for helping with getting our sight word cards done.
Notes from Ms. Driscoll
This week we will be diving deeper into the different content areas. Please practice counting at home with your child and read with or to them whenever possible. We will continue practicing the site word can and introducing the site word like! See if your child can use it in a sentence.
I am looking to have 2 room moms to help with a variety of activities throughout the year. If you are willing or able please let me know! Beginning in October I want to start having Mystery Readers visit our classroom! This is always exciting because parents, friends, and families can surprise their children by coming to read to our class. A CORI form will need to be filled out.
If you are willing or able to contribute to our class wish list, we can always use Clorox wipes and tissues.
Please contact me if you have any questions at adriscoll@arrsd.org or call the school. I am unable to access my voicemail at this time, so please email me if you aren't able to reach me and I will be sure to get back to you.
Have a great week!
Notes from Mrs. Marcoux
I have signed up to order Scholastic books, the order form will be coming home this week if anyone is interested in ordering any books.
The children did a great job in Math with sorting and learning quantities up to 5. Math stations are going well in our classroom. We have (4) math stations, each station is approximately (10) minutes long. The children now know when I shake the apple that it's time to move to the next station. Nice job mathematicians!
We welcomed a new student to our class on Friday, the children were very excited to meet her and went out of their way to help her acclimate to our school. It was very sweet to see the children doing this.
As always, if you need to reach me please contact me at lmarcoux@arrsd.org.
