Grant Gazette
September 2020
Dear Families,
They are doing incredible things in class and are also doing a great job of being respectful, responsible, and safe inside and outside of the building.
Our Grant students have done a very good job of adjusting to wearing masks at school (probably a WAY smoother transition than some of our adults have faced!) We are offering "mask breaks" throughout they day--in the classroom, at PE, on the playground, and of course, during lunch.
A medical waiver is available for a student who has an underlying medical condition that prevents him/her from wearing a mask. Documentation from a medical doctor is required and can be brought into the office.
Speaking of masks, I would really appreciate it if adults would wear a mask if you're outside picking up your child after school. There are a lot of people moving around as they pick up kids--if adults would wear a mask, that would help us keep everyone safe. Remember, the longer we can keep this virus at bay, the longer we can continue to have in-person education five days a week!
I also encourage all of our parents to connect with your child and his teacher through Seesaw. Seesaw is a way for you to really see and hear what's going on in your child's classroom. If you're not sure how to register for Seesaw, contact your child's teacher.
Have a wonderful September!

Counselor's Corner
It is SO great to have the students back in the building! We missed them very much! I can see that our students were well cared for during the closure and all of the scary events that happened during this time. They are doing amazing! But if ever your child is feeling overwhelmed by all of the events of this year and you need some resources or support, please don't hesitate to reach out to me. I am at Grant school every day except Tuesday, so you can call the school or email me at LisaMoreno@npsne.org.
In addition, if you ever feel that your child is struggling academically, please talk to your child's teacher, if at all possible. If you cannot reach them during the school day or want some extra help, I can assist in getting the help they need.
Every Friday, and an occasional Wednesday, I teach guidance classes. Be sure to check the chart below to see what your child is learning in these classes. These are life skills that will help them in school as well as at home, so the more you can support these skills, the more solid these skills will become! Thanks so much!
~ Your school counselor, Lisa Moreno
