Teacher Appreciation Next Week
May 1st through May 8th
Show our awesome teachers how much we love them by participating in this campaign of appreciation. Here at LVIS our teachers are dedicated to education and building a strong foundation of confidence, strength and dignity. We have come up with a daily theme to show appreciation for your child’s teacher.
· Monday “Postcard of Appreciation” – Send your teacher a card or note thanking them for the awesome Journey.
· Tuesday “Treats for Travels” – Stock their classrooms with yummy goodies that they can enjoy!
· Wednesday “Planting a Firm Foundation” – Bring your teacher their favorite flower or plant.
· Thursday “Tools to Navigate” – Bring them their favorite school supply to fill up their classroom!
· Friday “Passport to fun” – Bring your teacher a gift card to their favorite store or restaurant.
Don’t forget that a simple “Thank You” goes a long way in making somebody’s day truly special. Thanks for your continued support of your staff and students.

Every Chance...Every Day...Every Day
ATTENDANCE THIS WEEK
4th Grade: 96.81%
5th Grade: 97.01%
Total Attendance: 96.90%
Remember: Students must be in attendance at least 90% of the days the class is taught in order to receive credit or a final grade in a class. We appreciate our parents' efforts in helping us minimize student absences and prepare our students for their futures!
Yearbook Sales Goal Countdown
Our goal for yearbook sales is 90 books. Currently we have 71. We need 19 more to reach our goal. Buying a yearbook not only keeps memories from your child's school days, but it also raises money for our school.
These profits are used to help our staff enrich your child's learning environment here at LVIS. We have 17 days remaining to hit our goal before the final order is submitted. We will not be ordering ANY extra yearbooks. For your convenience, you can order online at:
https://ybpay.lifetouch.com/Order/SelectJob
Use Code: 13169317
Don't miss out on your opportunity to own the FIRST annual edition of the LVIS yearbook.
Don't Forget--Noche Mexicana is tonight!
Please join our ESL parents to a district/community wide Noche Mexicana on Friday, April 28th from 6:00-8:00pm in the grassy area between the High School and the PAC.

a note from mrs. davis
Viking Families,
Standardized Tests can be stressful on students, teachers, parents, and principals. Please help us ease your child's anxiety by giving them words of encouragement, extra hugs, and write a little note to let him/her know how proud you are of him/her and their work in school.
These simple tasks can help relax your child during testing times:
1. Remind your child to lay clothes and backpacks out the night before
2. Feed him/her a healthy dinner
3. Feed him/her a healthy breakfast or make sure they have time to eat breakfast at school
4. Make sure your child arrives to school before 7:45AM
5. Keep family time at home quiet and relaxed- no late night trips to the store- please
6. Remind your child to go to bed at their bedtime so he/she is well-rested
PTO has provided snacks and water for testing. It is not necessary for you to send snacks with your child. Please do not plan on eating lunch at school with your child next Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. We will have a different lunch schedule and will not allow outside visitors during testing. After Wednesday, please feel free to join us for lunch! We would love to have you:)
We are sure that with your help, our students are going to have a great week!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Davis
