Kick-off Programs for Wee Readers for Babies from birth to age 2 and Children ages 3-12:
• Thursday, May 28 @ 10:00 a.m. at the Stonecrest Library
• Thursday, May 28 @ 2:00 p.m. at the Tucker-Reid H. Cofer Library
• Saturday, May 30 @ 10:00 a.m. at the Decatur Library
Kick-off Program for Teens ages 13-17:
• Friday, May 29 @ 6:00 p.m. at the Decatur Library
***Jeff McClure of Got Magic! kicks off the summer with an awesome magic show and a visit from a thrilling superhero!!
***Make a craft and bring cameras and smiles for a picture with Iron Man and DeKalb County Public Library’s mascot, Dog in the Woods.
***Don’t forget to sign up for the Every Hero Has a Story Vacation Reading Program.
***Continue reading throughout the summer and receive an invitation to a special end-of-summer wrap up celebration!
Every Hero Has a Story - For Children ages 3–12
Sign up at any branch and receive a reading log, bookmark and sticker. Earn raffle tickets for hours read and/or literacy activities completed.
- • Complete the top half of the reading log and receive one raffle ticket.
- • Complete the bottom half of the reading log and receive a certificate, bag, mood pencil (while supplies last) and raffle ticket.
- • Continue reading for additional raffle tickets.
Unmask! - For Teens ages 13–17
Teens can pick up a reading log at any DeKalb County Public Library or sign up online and earn raffle tickets for hours read and/or literacy activities completed. There is no limit to the number of raffle tickets earned. For more information, please visit Unmask!
VRP Prizes:
Children and teens who participate in the Vacation Reading Program can earn raffle tickets for a variety of prizes, including but not limited to books, Amazon Kindle Fires and free tickets to cultural and amusement venues around Atlanta.

- STEP FOUR: Scroll down the page a little and find black icon that says "OVERDRIVE go now"
- STEP FIVE: Look at the the subject headings to find a book OR TYPE IN YOUR TITLE in the upper right hand corner search bar!
- STEP SIX: Hover your mouse over book cover and choose "borrow" or "sample" The sample will show you a page from the book.
- STEP SEVEN: To borrow the book you will need to type in your library card number and PIN number. Have an adult help you with this.
- STEP EIGHT: You will need to need to know how to download this and you will need to know how to choose the right file format for your device. Notice that there is an overdrive app. You will need to download this.

GUYS READ is a set of books and also a reading club that makes monthly book recommendations for guys! The GUYS READ books are very engaging collections of short stories based on a theme. Learn about the history and mission of "Guys Read" http://www.guysread.com/
