Big Thompson Elementary Spring Conferences

Conferences will be held Monday, February 24th - Wednesday, February 26th.

All conferences are student led, and each time slot will have 3-4 students. Please make sure to bring your student with you.

PLEASE PAY CLOSE ATTENTION to your teacher's times, not all teachers are having conferences on the same day or same times.

Annual Family Update

The AFU is now open for our returning families. Please go online and make sure all your information is accurate. If you have an upcoming kindergartner, you will be able to add him/her. I have attached the instructions for the AFU below just in case you need them.

News from your Volunteer Coordinator

Log Your Volunteer Hours by MARCH 31!

We are more than halfway through the school year and that means the deadline to log your volunteer hours is fast approaching. All hours must be logged by MARCH 31ST. This means if you have volunteered in some form at Big Thompson Elementary this school year and DID NOT check-in at the Volunteer Kiosk by the office, you will need to manually log those hours to the best of your memory at This includes hours from PTA meetings/events, Chili Supper and Silent Auction (including soliciting businesses for donations and basket assembling), Classroom/Teacher help (on and off school grounds help), Field Trips, Administrative Help, After School Events, Etc.

Logging hours is simple. Please go to the link above and follow these steps:

-Log In Username and Password (Usually it is your email address and password you created)

-Go to the 3 line icon on the upper left of your screen

-Select Volunteer

-Select Opportunities

-Log your hours and SAVE! (please make sure Big Thompson is selected as your school as some volunteers will have multiple options if they have children in other TSD schools)

If you have trouble logging your hours, please feel free to email Erin Lambert, Big T Volunteer Coordinator, your hours and she will be happy to log them for you. Please provide your name, estimated hours served and roughly when, and what it was.

Logging your volunteer hours is a crucial tool for our school for several reasons. First, those hours are used when our school applies for grants. The more we can show we have a community supported school, the better chance we have to win those grants. That could mean winning thousands of dollars or new technology for Big T! Second, TSD has set up an annual competition awarding the elementary school with the most volunteer support a gift card to be used for something for our school. Lastly, and most importantly, is your time makes a positive impact for our students and staff!

Thank you for all your hard work so far this year! Big T couldn't be the amazing school it is without our awesome volunteers!

Last day to Register to Volunteer at Big T is April 30th

If you have not registered to volunteer at Big T and you think you may want to volunteer this school year, please register at the district's volunteer registration page,, by April 30th. Per TSD rules, all volunteers at Big T must complete the online registration and have an approved background check done. With the end of the year, we tend to have many opportunities where parents want to volunteer... field trips, school dance, field day, end of year celebrations, etc. We urge every parent to take a few minutes to complete the online registration so you don't miss out on an opportunity to participate. After April 30th, ONLY REGISTERED AND APPROVED volunteers will be able to participate. Sorry, there are no exceptions to this rule. Big T Health Office Looking for Underwear Donations

Big T's Health office is asking for donations of both boys and girls underwear to keep on hand for accidents. They are in need of sizes 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8. Please click on the SignUp Genius Link to sign up, All donations may be dropped off anytime at the front desk. Thank you!

Show Some Love for our Big T Staff During the PTA Sponsored Staff Potluck!

Big T PTA will host a Taco Bar Luncheon for teachers and staff on Monday, February 24. PTA Secretary Lori Fischer and her professional chef husband, Dave, have offered to cook up a fabulous lunch for our staff! PTA is also asking for snack, dessert and other donations help keep our staff's bellies full while they are busy with conferences. Please take a moment to check out their SignUp Genius at If you would like to make a monetary donation to help offset the cost for the Fischer family, please drop off cash or check (make checks payable to Big T PTA) in a marked envelope "PTA Potluck" to the front desk.
