Alex and the rest of his baseball team were in disbelief when they won the Dragonville Tournament. This all started when Alex woke up at 7:00 A.M. and the sun said, “Hello.”(personification)

Alex said, “Hi.” Alex got ready quicker than a cheetah can run.(metaphor) After getting ready he ran downstairs to get something to eat because he was so hungry he could eat a horse.(hyperbole) So he fixed himself two sunny-side up eggs. Then Alex’s mom came into the room and asked, “Are you guys going to win the tournament?”

Alex replied back and said, “Sure? When pigs fly.” (idiom)

“Now come on Alex have faith in your team,” replied mom.

Alex’s team had never won a tournament before and he didn't think that his team was good enough to win it all. Alex's mom took him to the batting cages for batting practice with his team. After a solid hour out at the cages the team headed off to Dragonville where the tournament was being held. Alex’s first two games were blowout wins with scores of 8-1 in the first game and 6-0 in the second game. The third and fourth games were really close wins with scores of 3-1 and 2-1. Next came the championship game. After the first two innings the score was still 0-0. Then there was finally some action in the next 5 innings with Alex’s team losing with a score of 2-5. In the 8th inning the bases were loaded for Alex’s friend Jacob who already hit a solo home run in the game. Jacob’s swung at the first pitch in the at-bat and hit a deep home run to score 4 runs. In the top of the 9th there was two outs with the bases loaded. A kid hit the ball and the ball was getting bigger and bigger when it hit(pun) Alex. Alex ran up and dove to catch the ball for the final out of the game. His teammates piled on him as he looked in disbelief at the scoreboard which read 6-5 Clinton view Magic (Alex’s team). Then his team piled on top of him.
