Fifth Grade Adventure Camp
Our 5th grade Adventure Camp is coming up soon and will be held October 5-7. The financial commitment associated with this experience is $180.00. Final payment for this experience is due Friday, September 23. This is a hard deadline, for final counts will be needed in order to allow for proper planning. Cash, check, or credit card payments are accepted. A link to pay by credit card is provided through RevTrak (links provided below). All checks should be made payable to Davis Intermediate School. On the memo line of the check, please clearly write your child’s first and last name and Camp 5 2022.
If you are chaperoning this event, the cost per parent is $120.00. All chaperones must have a criminal background check completed and are expected to remain at camp for the duration of the event.
- On October 5, students going to camp will need to bring a sack lunch. If your child ordered a sack lunch from the school cafeteria, it will be available for pick up prior to our departure.
- Students will need to bring their own bedding, pillows, blankets, and toiletry items. Each bed has a vinyl mattress, but there are no covers. Students will also need towels for when they shower, toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, hair brushes, etc. They do not need curling irons or hair straighteners.
- Students should bring comfortable tennis shoes and plenty of pairs of socks. If socks or shoes get wet, students will need additional options.
- Students are asked to dress comfortably. Jeans, shorts, t-shirts, etc. are acceptable. Most of the students' time will be spent walking outside.
- The camp store will offer some snacks and souvenirs. Your student may want to bring cash to buy items in the camp store. This is not a requirement, and Davis Intermediate is not responsible for money brought to camp.
- Students may bring their cell phones. During the day, cell phones will be kept locked in the cabins. When the students are in the cabins, they may use their phones.
- Students are encouraged to bring/wear sunscreen and bug spray.
- Students are encouraged to bring refillable water bottles to keep with them during the day.
- When the students arrive at Davis on the day of camp, they will keep their luggage with them. When students load the buses, they will put their luggage on the bus with them. When we arrive at camp, there will be adults to help the students get the luggage off the buses.
- On the day we return from camp, students will be able to leave school immediately. Students should arrive back to Davis between 1:30-2:00. Watch for updates on the Davis Facebook Page regarding what time the students are expected to return. If your child would like to stay at school until 3:30 that day, he/she may do so.
Prior to attending camp, the students will have the opportunity to choose camp "buddies" to be paired with. Each student will choose one camp buddy. Once the pairs of students are identified, we will place those students in the same learning group/cabin. Outside of each student's camp buddy, we cannot guarantee that they will be in the same learning group as their other friends.
Those students not attending camp will run a normal schedule October 5-7.

A Message from Wylie ISD and Wylie PD
The school year is in full swing, and as we begin looking ahead to the holidays and the spring semester, we want to take a moment to ask for your assistance. We’ve seen it in the news, on social media, and it even happens sometimes in our own schools — students making threats of violence. Any threat to commit school violence or a threat against another person or their property can result in an arrest for assault by threat, false alarm or report, or even terroristic threat. Consequences can range from school expulsion to possible felony charges that can follow your student for the rest of their life.
Parents, please stress to your student the importance of not making threatening statements. It doesn’t matter if it’s a joke or something said in the heat of the moment. Any type of threat, whether it’s said directly, overheard by others nearby, posted on social media, or even written on the bathroom wall, can lead to serious school and legal consequences.
While most threats are not legitimate, the best way to keep our campuses safe is to treat all threats seriously. We also ask that you remind your student that if they see or hear something, please say something. You and your student do not need to determine if the threat is credible; a thorough investigation will determine whether or not it is legitimate. But, we do need students and parents to report it. It takes all of us to keep our schools safe, and our top priority will always be the safety and security of students.
If you or your student have information related to criminal activity, threats against a campus, bullying, or anything else you may have concerns about, you can always anonymously notify us via Tip411. However, if it’s an emergency, dial 911.
Together, we can ensure our campuses remain safe places where all students can thrive. We appreciate your ongoing support and partnership.

PTA Reflections Program
It's time for the annual PTA Reflections Program! “Show Your Voice” is the Reflections theme this year. Students can use this theme to take a photo, make a video, write a story or poem, create a painting or a dance, or compose their own song. Express your artistic talent and tell us how you plan to show your voice through Reflections. In order to participate, students and/or parents must be members of PTA (www.join pta.org). Be sure to read through the rules for each category you choose. Entry forms and rules can be downloaded from the website. Printed copies can be found in the front office or in Mr. Bray's room. All entries are due to Mr. Bray in room 121 by November 1. For more information, visit www.txpta.org/reflections.
