Illinois Assessment of Readiness Student Reports (4th/5th graders only)
Any 4th or 5th grade student that took the Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) last year received a report for English Language Arts (ELA) and Math. (Since state testing does not begin until the end of 3rd grade, this report would only be for 4th and 5th graders.) The IAR report looks like this. On the report, it will explain how to read and use the information. Here is an informational letter from the Illinois State Board of Education on the IAR reports. Please check with your child to ensure you have received and reviewed the reports.
i-Ready Student Reports
Any student in grades 2-5 that took the fall i-Ready diagnostic assessment received a report for English Language Arts (ELA) and Math. The i-Ready report looks like this. Here is our informational letter regarding the reports. Please check with your child to ensure you have received and reviewed the reports.
Bullying Prevention Month
October is Bullying Prevention Month. Bullying is defined as "unwanted, aggressive behavior among school aged children that involves a real or perceived power imbalance. The behavior is repeated, or has the potential to be repeated, over time." (stopbullying.gov)
We work extremely hard at Oak Ridge to create a positive, inclusive environment for our students so they feel safe and respected. One area we ask for your help is with cyberbullying, which occurs on cell phones (apps, text messages, etc.), tablets, and computers. Please monitor and talk to your child about being safe online and reporting any instances of cyberbullying.
Note: Social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok, etc. have a minimum age requirement of 13 years old.
Here are some resources that will help. If you have any questions or need additional support, please contact your child's teacher or call the main office at 708-598-5713.
Hickory Hills Howls Through the Hills
On Saturday, October 26th, Hickory Hills will be holding its annual Howl Through the Hills. Students and families participate by running or walking through the hills in a 5k race or 400 yard dash. Our running clubs have been practicing extremely hard in preparation for the event. We hope you can come out and join us for a fun time! Please see Hickory Hills website to register and for more information.
Missing Glasses
Is your child missing his/her glasses? There are four pairs of unclaimed glasses in the health office. If you recognize any of these pairs of glasses, please contact the health office at 708-233-5304 to claim them.
Have a wonderful week, and go Mustangs!
