Mineola ISD ESL Certification & Professional Development Requirements
All teachers certified by the 2020-2021 school year
ALL CORE CONTENT
(including Special Ed teachers)
teachers are required to be ESL Certified by the start of the 2019-2020 school year.
ALL OTHER
teachers must be ESL Certified by the start of the 2020-2021 school year.
You will be reimbursed for both the cost of the exam, and the expense of adding the ESL certification to your teaching license:
- Send proof of passing and a paid receipt to central office in care of Jennifer Knipp.
- Teachers must add that certification to their teaching license. Send proof and and a paid receipt to central office in care of Jennifer Knipp.
PLEASE NOTE: Teachers currently certified in ESL will NOT be reimbursed for recertification.

February 9: 8:30-3:30 (MISD location, Student Center, Mineola High School)
Teachers will receive a $100 stipend for attendance on this Saturday.
June 11: 8:30-3:30 (MISD location, Student Center, Mineola High School)
This will count as 1 of 4 comp days for summer PD.
SIOP Training - Helping ALL Learners
More information and registration links will follow later.
Session 1: May 28-29, 2019 (8:30-3:30, MISD Location TBD)
If you did NOT teach at the August 2018 Jump Start, these two days will count as contract days for the 2018-2019 school year.
If you DID teach at the Fall 2018 Jump Start, these two days will count as comp days for summer PD, for the 2019-2020 school year.
Session 2: Fall 2018 TBD (8:30-3:30, MISD Location TBD)
These two days will be for new core content teachers.
