Summer Professional Learning
6-12 Literacy Online Courses
Our Close Reading Workshop delivers a 5-step process for reading that when practiced regularly in all subject areas, builds students’ confidence and helps them develop into independent and adaptable readers. Our step-by-step reading process is what all subject area teachers need to confidently teach College and Career Readiness (CCR) reading skills. Participants will leave the workshop with classroom tested skills and strategies to help students independently read a wide range of complex texts. They will understand how to set a purpose for reading, explicitly teach comprehension reading and deep reading skills, and support students as they learn to organize and cite essential information. Furthermore, participants will be able to effectively implement the skills they have learned in their own classrooms the very next day.
Participants will have the opportunity to participate in a train-the-trainer redelivery model. Please contact Dr. Alisha Hill, arhill@atlanta.k12.ga.us, if you are interested.
