Dear Collicot Community

Vacation is almost upon us. We wanted to send just a few updates before you are in full relax mode.

Today we had some fun with a Collicot school assembly to celebrate Black History Month and kindness. It ended with a lighting trivia round of ten questions which our students aced. We hope to hear they enjoyed themselves and it is clear they learned a great deal over the past few weeks.

Thanks to the support of our PTO, our K-2 classes enjoyed a very special visit from author Antwan Eady to explore the book Nigel and the Moon. Copies of the book are available at the Milton Public Library. Mr. Eady will also have signed copies available for purchase at The Blue Bunny Bookstore.

It is hard to believe that when we return from vacation March will be here.

On Thursday, March 3rd, we will celebrate our sixth annual literary character dress up day literature with a character dress up day for k-4 students and a wax museum for our grade five students. This should be a fun way to celebrate characters we have learned about in books we have read. Hopefully all of the kids and staff will have some fun with this!

Pictures below show great energy from last year!

Finally, the week after vacation will be the final week of mandatory mask wearing in the Milton Public Schools. All students and staff will be required to wear masks Feb. 28th-March 4th. We recognize this will be received with mixed emotions from our community and staff. Starting March 7th, we will move to a mask optional model. In line with the Collicot Code, we will respect individual choice. We will continue to work to provide the most comfortable and optimal learning environment with respect for all. Thank you for your support regarding this and all Collicot matters.
