Coloma Junior High

Week of November 30, 2020

Be sure to continue to conduct daily health screenings of your child as we return to school.

In accordance with Board of Education policies, our Return to Learn plans and direction from local, state and federal health officials, if your student has any of the following symptoms, you must keep them home from school!

  • temperature of 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or higher
  • sore throat
  • an uncontrolled cough that causes difficulty breathing
  • the onset of a severe headache
  • diarrhea and/or vomiting
  • unusual belly pain
  • new loss of taste or smell

IMPORTANT: Based on Board policies and written guidance from local, state and federal health officials, in order for your child to return to school after experiencing one or more of the above symptoms a parent/guardian must provide a negative COVID-19 test result or a doctor’s note releasing the student to attend school. If you do not provide a negative COVID-19 test result or doctor’s note, then your student will be excluded from Coloma Community Schools for ten (10) days from the first day they had symptoms. They must also be fever free for 24 hours and/or their symptoms have improved after the ten (10) day exclusion period before they can return.

Daily Student Health Screenings for Symptoms

Delayed Start - Wed. Dec. 2nd

Big picture

Sprint to the Finish

I hope that you and your families were able to enjoy a safe and happy Thanksgiving. As we return from the end of Thanksgiving Break we have only 3 five day weeks before the end of the semester and Winter Break. That is only 15 days to insure that all assignments are completed.

This year our staff has made the decision to waive the final exam portion of the semester. This decision was made due to the unprecedented impact of the ongoing pandemic. A few factors that weighed heavily on our decision included attendance, quarantine requirements and virtual instruction. While teachers may have a unit or chapter test to end the semester, it will not be cumulative of 1st semester. We will continue to follow the same schedule of half days for 12/17 and 12/18.

As we continue the next few weeks it will be critical that you continue to monitor your child's grades through PowerSchool. Please contact the main office if you need assistance accessing PowerSchool. Final grades will be released upon the return from Winter Break.

Morning Arrival

Please remember that our building opens at 7:30am this year. Classes begin at 8:00am. If you drop your child off prior to 7:30, they will be waiting outside and the weather is getting colder. Be sure that they are dressed appropriately.

Mask Reminder

We issued each child 2 masks on their first day of school this year. We have also provided additional masks as needed both cloth and paper. It is important that your child is bringing a mask every day just like their usual school supplies.
