Holding the families of Uvalde in our hearts

As we continue to hold the families in Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District community in our hearts and prayers, while they continue to process and grieve such a horrible tragedy, I am sharing a portion of the email sent by Mr. Gutman earlier this week. Please reach out to me or any member of our staff if we can be of help/support to you and your families.

In the Walled Lake Consolidated School District, we remain committed to the safety and security of our students, staff, and families. We continue to review and practice our safety and security measures to ensure the safety of all who learn, work, and play within our buildings. We take all incidents involving student and staff safety seriously and appreciate our partnerships with local law enforcement officials. We ask students, parents, and community members to report all suspicious or threatening activity to law enforcement and/or school/district administration immediately.

Your children are our children, and we will continue to do everything in our control to maintain safety in our schools. These are resources to help you discuss this with your children:

Principal's Survey for Parents

It continues to be such a honor to serve the Oakley Park school community! As we conclude the 2021-2022 school year, your feedback on my leadership is very important to me. Each year, I survey our parents/guardians and then use your feedback for reflection and to develop goals for the coming year. Thank you for sharing your feedback as it will help me to better serve our school community! Please consider taking the following survey linked below.

Congratulations to Mrs. Simon

After an AMAZING 37 years in education, Mrs. Simon is retiring. Her entire teaching career has been here in Walled Lake schools and 33 of those years have been at Oakey Park. Mrs. Simon is looking forward to having time to spend with her husband and family and exploring new opportunities. We wish Mrs. Simon all the best in her retirement!

Congratulation to Mrs. Grinnell

Mrs. Grinnell has taught for 15 year, and 14 of those have been in Walled Lake Schools. She began at Mary Helen Guest and had worked in just about every elementary building before coming to Oakley Park in the fall of 2018.. Mrs. Grinnell is looking forward to returning to the Greater Cleveland area and spending time with family and friends! We wish Mrs. Grinnell all the best in her retirement!

Optional COVID testing now available at the ESC

The District is now offering optional COVID testing to our staff, students, and parents. Both Rapid and PCR tests are available. The testing will take place at the Educational Services Center (850 Ladd Road, Building D Walled Lake, MI 48390) on Tuesdays and Fridays from 2-7 p.m.

The COVID testing staff, provided by a third party, will be responsible for letting people in the side door on the south side of the building.

· If you have insurance, your insurance provider will be billed.

· If you do not have insurance, there is a cost of $110.00 for a PCR test and $50.00 for a rapid test - This comes as a result of the Federal Government no longer providing funding for testing.

There will be signage placed both inside and outside of the building. To set up an appointment for testing, please complete this requisition form.
