"Be thankful for what you have; you'll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don't have, you will never, ever have enough."
Message from the Superintendent's Office
I wish to extend a message of thanks and appreciation for all the work ALL of you do in helping our students to grow and learn. We are very fortunate to work, (and some who live) in such a vibrant and supportive community that values the work of preparing “each child."
We have a great deal to be thankful for in Mansfield Township School District. As our community grows, we will have continuous opportunities to come together and work in a focused way to make certain that students have the best educational experience possible.
I am thankful for your effort, dedication as well as your honest and direct feedback as I lead the district. I look forward to your on-going commitment to the district.
It is with gratefulness I wish you and your families a very happy, healthy, and relaxing Thanksgiving holiday!

What is the new club's vision?
We would the MTES students to choose monthly activities to give back to society. We are hoping the Grade 6 students to organize and facilitate the activities. We will invite all MTSD staff to participate in the activities.

Featured Topic From the Curriculum Office:
Why Is Guided Reading Important? Guided reading gives students the chance to apply the strategies they already know to new text. You provide support, but the ultimate goal is independent reading. Supporting Students' Reading In working with students in guided reading, you constantly balance the difficulty of the text with support for students reading the text. You introduce the story to the group, support individuals through brief interactions while they read, and guide them in talking together afterward about the words and ideas in the text. In this way, you refine text selection and help individual readers move forward in developing a reading process Procedure for Guided Reading Work with a small group of students with similar needs. Provide introductions to the text that support students' later attempts at problem solving. Picture walk, book walk, predictions, etc Each student reads the whole text or a selected part of the text independently or in a whisper voice Teacher listens in to each student individually, prompting, encouraging, and confirming students' attempts at problem solving Readers figure out new words while reading for meaning. Support, coach and make anecdotal notes on each child You and your students engage in meaningful conversations about what they are reading. You and your student revisit the text to demonstrate and use a range of comprehension strategies. Resources for Guided Reading These are just ideas, you can use any format that works for you Flag Your Strategy (Flag Your Strategy Directions)- I have used and seen this strategy used in guided reading, independent reading and shared reading. Feel free to see me for more information! Feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns involving Guided Reading. I’m always happy to help!

I'd like to thank everyone for a wonderful Halloween parade and all of the school spirit you show everyday! In addition, your students did a fantastic job evacuating the building today. I was so proud to see how serious they were. You prepared them well! As we move into November, remember to slow down and enjoy each day as the holidays rush towards us. Thank you for all that you do.

"Every child deserves to feel important. Every child deserves to feel like the "favorite."
- From Kids Deserve It by Todd Nesloney and Adam Welcome
Here are some suggestions from Kids Deserve It by Todd Nesloney and Adam Welcome:
- Use people's names. This helps kids feel important and they love to hear their name being used in a positive way.
- Greet everyone who walks through your door with a high five, fist bump, hug, or warm smile. There is research that proves by doing this you are starting the day off on a great note. Children feel loved and valued as soon as they get to your door.
- Make positive phone calls home. Call families just to tell them something amazing that happened. This will make a world of difference to the family and to the student.
