September News
~"It's one of my favorite seasons of the year:
Back to school"~
~A new school year means new beginnings,
new adventures, new friendships and new challenges.
The slate is clean and anything can happen!~

Good Afternoon Timberwolf Families,
On behalf of the entire BTMS faculty and staff, I wish to say Thank You for such a great start to the school year. We have been back in action for almost a month and I could not be more proud of the fantastic first chapter of our year. Welcome to Banks Trail Middle School. For those just joining us, we are excited to have you and your family as part of our team. To those returning to the Trail, we all look forward to our continued partnership.
The middle school years are one of life's great adventures that you only want to go through once. Our students change so much from the beginning of 6th grade to the end of 8th grade and we work really hard to make sure that our students are ready for their next steps when they leave here for high school. As the parent of an 8th grader, it still baffles me that my son will be sitting in high school in less than a year. My promise to you is the same as my expectations for his teachers. We will do everything we can to make sure that your children, our students, are given the best instruction. That they will form great relationships with our teachers, they will make positive friendships with classmates, and they'll take away so much from Banks Trail that they will thrive when they walk into the high schools. We have a powerful collection of gifted educators working with your students each day. Together, our students are going to do great things.
At BTMS, we align everything to The TRAIL, focusing on Teamwork, Responsibility, Ambition, Integrity, and Leadership. Students will nurture and develop these skills and they will be helpful in all that they do. We will ask a lot out of our students this year. Our academics are challenging and middle school will, at times, be hard. We will model citizenship and respect and learn to work with one another. We will celebrate our peers and learn from both our triumphs and shortcomings. We encourage a little craziness with our school spirit as we celebrate being part of the very best school around.
This school is one of my favorite places on the planet and, like all those who teach here, we are honored to be involved in your student's middle school years. We are going to do some great things this year. I encourage you to take an active role in all that we do.
Thank you again for sharing your students with us and for your partnership in their education. We look forward to all the amazing things coming our way this year!
Thank you,
Marc Pyrc

Guidance Counselor's Corner
In collaboration with Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina, we’re providing improved meals over the weekends to hungry students in every elementary, middle, and high school in Fort Mill Schools. Bags of food are discreetly placed in student bookbags on Fridays so that they can be nourished every weekend and come to school ready to learn every Monday morning.
If your family would benefit from receiving a bag of food weekly, please complete this short form so we can be sure to include you in our district’s “Backpack Program.” This program is confidential and will not be shared unless given permission by you. If you have any questions about this resource, please reach out to me.
