CMS Families,
I hope you all had a relaxing holiday week. We are on the crunch time with three weeks until our Christmas break and there is a great deal of learning as well as evening activities that will take place. This also means it is the end of the grading period so our students need to make sure they are staying after school and getting the help they need. Your child should be checking SSS at least twice a week so they know about any grades below a 70. We do expect students in high school electives and pre-ap classes to maintain grades above an 85.
If your child is failing any unit checks or CBA's, we highly encourage them to stay after school to make up their test. If they are failing those assessments, they also need to go in for tutorials as those are benchmarks to make sure they are ready for their STAAR test.
If your child still has not completed summer reading, they will not be allowed to participate in any basketball games, dances or Cougartime until this is completed.
We are 4 days in to our 18 Day Winter Attendance Dash! Please make sure you check our Facebook for daily posts for our challenge. If we meet our school-wide goal of 97% we will have TWO hours of free time! 100% kids will have VIP access, get FREE snacks and get entered into the drawing for Airpod Pros! We will also take the top three highest daily attendance to Gattitown on Friday, December 20th. Attendance Matters!
As part of the feedback from our Community Survey, we want to know how our front office is providing customer service and how we can improve ourselves. At CMS we strive to "keep improving, always, in all ways". Please use the link below to provide positive and constructive feedback. Thank you!
We will be participating in a lockdown drill on Tuesday, December 3rd.This means you may see more patrol cars on our campus as we will have officers from the area assist in the lockdown. Our students viewed the Standard Response Protocol (SRP) in the beginning of the year and teachers had a discussion with the students. Teachers also review procedures before the drill. We participate in this SRP Lockdown drill yearly to ensure we all know what to do in case of a lockdown. This is also a good time to have a discussion with your child at home about the procedure. We appreciate your support and please contact any administrator if you have questions.
Please consider helping CMS PTA with concessions. This is PTA's biggest fundraiser and the money they earn goes directly back to our students and teachers. Thank you for helping!

Please remember about our FREE Math program called Dreambox. This is a GREAT opportunity to fill in the gaps and to get ahead. We will have prizes every two weeks for students and classes. Our library is open every day until 5pm. We would like every student to get on Dreambox nightly. Please take a look at the flyer below for more information. https://play.dreambox.com/login/un8v/ds4q
