Who Is He?
Born on December 27, 1822, Louis Pasteur would make huge breakthroughs in the medical field. Louis Pasteur was a French chemist and microbiologist who worked very hard. He discovered that disease was caused by infection from organisms called germs. This was a big change for the world, to know how to prevent sickness.
What Else Did He Do?
He was the founder of microbiology, they study of microorganisms. In other words he study germs, I guess you could call him a germ freak. He also discovered that if you heat things up that it kills the germs. This process is called pasteurization. He also made vaccines for rabies and anthrax.

So What DId He Impact?
Because of his discoveries, the health care for people became better. They started using antiseptics so people lived longer. All the discoveries increased the life span of people living during this time. Louis Pasteur died on September 28, 1895, knowing he did something in the world to help peoples life.
