DUTY - Not an option...BE THERE ON TIME
Responsibility
The year is just about at its end...and we know we will never be able to bring back the moments that are escaping us. Please take the time to capture that student's attention this week:
- Let them know how much you care.
- Tell them how smart they are
- Give them a reason to be successful
- Spend time listening to kids
- Be candid and sincere
- Talk about "The Real You"
- Speak softly and directly without yelling and screaming
- Find positives to have celebrations
- Reflect on yourself
- Never give up!
So all I'm really saying is for you to do what Kevin Spacey ask of us and send the elevator down to a SWMS student and help him/her believe he/she can reach full potential this EOG season.
Thanks to all of you

Classroom Party???
I am sure that when you received the email about NO PARTIES you had some questions.
This is the deal...
We are here for the purpose of teaching and learning. As a school leader, I have been warned many times that students have the opportunity to do enrichment once testing is complete. Parties are frowned upon so we stir clear of that stigma.
So no parties...
Can we celebrate kids doing well? Well yes, The difference is that we are not having parents and kids bringing in lots and lots of food and goodies to spend half a day sorting and the other half distributing and eating. Take a few minutes to figure out how to spend 40- 30 minutes or less to say thank you to your students.
So in the scheme of things the Admin needs to know what is going on in your room for your down time. If you complete test remember there is someone else still testing.
Our school-wide celebrations are planned:
- EOG Pep Rally on Wed. May 24th
- Awards days on June 6th and 7th
- EOG Block Party with Pelicans June 7th
Again, see me to schedule any activity that may disturb/halt student learning or testing that is to take place between now and June 8th.
