A Message from the Director
TVA Families,
This week kicks off Chesterton High School's Homecoming Week. This annual event is a great opportunity to pull the entire Duneland School Corporation Family together to celebrate the many things that make us great. While there is usual events focused on the Friday game, our Homecoming parade and Homecoming Block party are focused on all of us. Please see information below on all of these events. We hope you and your family will join us.
Homecoming highlights a sense of community and connection. This is one of the more challenging pieces of a virtual school however...finding ways to connect and build a stronger sense of community. We encourage our families to continue to support peer relationships with students in TVA. Are there regular interactions with like aged peers? What opportunities through other school events, church or community organizations can your child participate in? Are there volunteer opportunities or work based learning that fill this void? These things are important to long term growth and success beyond school. We encourage you to reflect on that.
We frequently get asked about social opportunities for TVA students. If your student has an interested in creating a club with TVA students let us know? If you have an interest in starting a Parent Teacher Organization or Parent Group let us know as well? We are open to building an expanding what TVA is beyond schooling each day.
Have a great weekend and a great week.
Sincerely,
Mr. Kevin Zeck & the TVA Staff
Each week we will showcase TVA Students of the Week. Students are chosen based on their online performance with staying on pace and making good academic progress. We are excited to celebrate our student successes and we hope this helps you also connect in some ways as well.
Shasha Bowser - TVA Student of the Week
Sasha Bowser is a Junior with TVA. When asked why she joined TVA Sasha indicated, "I chose TVA because I love working from home and having a more flexible schedule helps me out a lot." After high school she plans to attend a two-year community college. Her career aspirations are still undecided. She is an animal lover and has three cats. Sasha is on track to graduate with the class of 2024!
