Parents will also have the opportunity to hear about the daily life of a 6th grader at LMS.

Skate Night is this Thursday, January 14th from 6:00-8:00pm at the Northland Rolladium! School Skate Night parties are a fun and easy way to help raise money for Schumacher. Bring your students and any other family or friends who want to have a blast at each month's themed skate party. (The more paid skaters, the more money raised for Schumacher.)

The class with the most attendance will be awarded the "Golden Skate Award" trophy to keep in their classroom that month along with a free pass for each student in the class to use at a future public session! This month's theme is 80's / 90's Night! Roll into the New Year and turn back time wearing your favorite 80's & 90's fashions and hear some, like, totally tubular music! Guest appearances this month will be made by: Mrs. Cogan, Mr. Farris, Ms. Gosnell, Mrs. Toebben, and Mrs. Wilper!

Skate parties are private events for students and their families and friends. We are not open to the general public during skate parties. You are always welcome to stay and even skate with your child. If you are comfortable leaving your child, simply sign them in with a contact phone number with our experienced rink management and staff.

This Monday some of our classrooms welcomed men and women from the William Jewell basketball teams to read to the students. The Jewell basketball teams have been visiting Schumacher for the past few years as a part of this reading program. Our students love seeing these (tall) college students up close and personal and our staff love having them encourage literacy and a love of reading. We thank them for visiting!

It is becoming close to time to elect a new set of board members. We have term limits and most of us have completed our full term. So with that being said, we will need about 4 volunteers to take on the role of board member. If you have a passion for helping kids and supporting Schumacher, please consider being an officer or a committee chair. We need lots of people to help make our school a great place. We also need new ideas and new ways to keep moving into the future. Please contact me at dsparksl@hotmail.com if you are interested in being more active with PTA. There's a spot for you!

Thank you,

David Sparks

PTA President
