Message from the District Administrator
“It’s not happy people who are thankful. It’s thankful people who are happy.”
I’m not sure who first said this quote, but it really hit home for me recently when I read the 2022 World Happiness Report. On a positive note, the study found that positive emotions were twice as frequent as negative emotions, but feelings of worry and sadness are higher now than they were pre-pandemic.
What I like about the quote is that although sometimes it’s hard to “be” more happy, there are certainly ways that we can increase our thankfulness. One practice that I’ve found to be very helpful is to list three things I’m grateful for each morning. It starts my head in a good mindset and keeps me more positive during the day.
Since today is Veterans Day, it is only appropriate to take some time to thank the many men and women who have served in the uniformed services. Each year at graduation, we specifically recognize our students who have chosen to dedicate their lives to serving and protecting the United States. It’s with great pride that I work for a school district that builds young women and men who have the skills, dedication, and leadership abilities to want to give back to the community in this way.
So, to all the veterans - past, present, and future - thank you for your bravery, sacrifice, and commitment. We salute you!
