A parent's guide to ASD support in Peel
All students with ASD will have an Individual Education Plan (IEP)
IEPs:
• are easily accessible documents to all educational professionals involved with the student
• create focus for programming and assessment
• reflect the student's current status i.e. personnel involved
• changes as current learning expectations are met
• regularly reviewed and revised
Accomodations are listed on IEPs to ensure there are special teaching and assessment strategies, human supports and/or individualized equipment required to enable a student to learn and demonstrate learning.
For students with ASD, it is imperative to be mindful of accommodations that may be necessary to evoke an accurate demonstration of skills or knowledge.
