A Message from Mrs. Douthart
Principal, Five Forks Middle School
Dear Five Forks Families,
Thank you for your continued commitment to our Digital Learning. I am really proud of the hard work of our teachers and students!
The nature of online learning fosters the need for frequent formative assessments more than summative assessments. As a result, all Gwinnett County middle schools are making adjustments to our category weights. Changes in weights will vary based upon courses. The biggest change is a reduction of the summative category percentage and an increase in the Classwork/Classroom category percentage. This means students will have fewer tests and it will also minimize the impact a single assessment has on a student’s overall average. Additionally, all assessments in the summative and final exam categories will be locally-created by teams of teachers here at FFMS. No district exams will be given.
We have also determined the final exam schedule for our students. In an effort to have enough time to take exams and ensure that students have satisfied all of their work requirements, we have staggered our locally-created finals. This will allow our students time to review with their teachers and complete any missing assignments up until the last day of school, Wednesday, May 20, 2020.
The final exam schedule for our FFMS students is as follows:
- Monday, May 11th Connections A & B
- Tuesday, May 12 Language Arts
- Wednesday, May 13 Science
- Thursday, May 14 Social Studies
- Friday, May 15 Math
Please contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions.
We appreciate your continued support!
Sincerely,
Christine Douthart
